    Canada Declares War on Germany
    Since 1914 Britain had been at war with Germany. At that time Canada was not fully commited to helping them out. Canadas attack on Germany was triggerd by Germany sinking the Athenia ship where 200 Canadians died. This was the first time Canada declared war as a independant country.

    On June 5, 1940 it was made illegal to be a Nazi or support them in Canada. This was done to minimize attack on home soil and people were happy it happened.

    The bombing of Pearl Harbour was a a major event in the second world war. This set off the battle of Hong Kong in which many Canadian soldiers were involved in and hundreds died. The bombing of pearl harbour also signified the day that USA joined World War 2.

    After Japan declaring war on Canada after the Pearl Harbour bombing canada bean to see the as the very large threat. The two countries began fighting in the battle of Hong-Kong, this battle was not in Canada's favour and they were forced to give up. The people in Canada did not want any of the Japanese-Canadians spying and helping Japan. These people were forced to give away all of their belongings and move away from British Columbia to pursue a poor and labourous lifesltyle.
  • Deippe Raid

    The Dieppe Raid was supposed show how well the allies could attack Hitle's Frotress Europe. This was the first time Canada had joined the Euorpean war. Lieutenant-General Harry Crerar sent Canadian troops to this raid because authories in Canada believed that would be a good thing to do. Howrver this ended up being a disatorous battle; over 900 Canadians died and thousands got injured and kept as war prisoners.
  • Italian Campaign

    Italian Campaign
    The Italian Campaign began when Stalin asked for help from the Allies to invade Sicily. Germans had control over Sicily at that time and many nations icluding Canada joined in efforts to defeat them. This campaign lasted many hard weeks. 110,000 allied forces died, 1300 of those Canadians. In the end the Canadians helped defeat Germany by pushing them back to the town of Ortona.
  • Germany's Surrender

    Germany's Surrender
    On May 7th at 9;36 pm Canada found out that Germany had surrendeed to Europe. Everyone was exteremly happy to find out that this horrid war was finally over. Soon enought people began celebrating and having fun without worrying about any upcoming invasions.
