First Saturday Surprise
This first Saturday Suprise was a very important one because this is how the Germans got their army back. First Adolf Hitler said in the name of "defense" Germany needed back their Air Force. Secondly HItler reinstated the war draft, and re-armed Germany all in the name of "defense." The world somehow believed him that he did all of this to protect Germany. -
The Second Saturday Surprise
On this day of the Second Saturday Suprise almost exactly a year after the first one, Hitler made a tremendous move. He marched his soldiers into to the Rhineland as fighter planes soared overhead. By doing this Hitler blatantly broke the treaty of versailles, and no one did anything about it. He had called France, and Englands bluff. -
Hitler Calls Other Nations Hypocritical
Six years after Hitler became chancellor of Germany, Hitler told the Reichstag that other nations were hypocritical in their complaints that Germany mistreats Jews. No one can find a single excuse for refusing to recieve the most valuable race in their own Countries. Poeple in Europe shoud not settle down until this Jewish question is made clear to everyone. -
Declaring War on Poland
The Germans claimed that they declared war on Poland fpr retaliation reasons. They did this by propaganda. What they said happend and acted as if this happend was that Germans took a groups of people from a concentration camp in Gleiwitz. Thay marched the prisoners to the Polish order and shot them in Polish army clothes. Thus making it seem ok to the people of Germany who opposed the idea of war. But the Germany still opposed Hitlers decision. -
Capturing Poland
The day after Germany declared war on Poland the Germans bombed Piotrkow. This bombing lasted for through all of the next day September 3 too. On September 5th, 2 days after the bombings German forces went in to Piotrkow and destoyed their last defence in a matter of hours. This was the beggining of World War 2. -
Jews Made to Wear the Star of David
By the end of 1939 the Nazis made all Jews wear the Star of David to indicate that they were Jewish. At this time Jews were sentanced to a curfew that kept them off the streets between 9pm and 5am. If they failed to abide by this law they could end up with 10 years of jail time. -
Take over of Denmark and Norway
Hitlers forces took oer Denmark and Norway both in the month of April. They were able to take down both places at once because the allies did nothing while Hitler built up his army to be enormous. He was also able to do this beause these 2 countries were not ready for war or to fight Nazi Germany. -
Nazis take over Belgium, The Netherlands, and Luxembourg
This was a very important invasion mainly for the reason that now they can have a much better position to attack France at. Now they can hit the French with artllery and will have a much easier time taking over, and desrtoying France. Also this made the Nazis controllers of a lot of western europe. -
France falls to Hitlers Forces
Once the French had fallen to the Nazis, the only place in Eastern Europe not controlled by the Nazis was England. They have to fight alone but, many concored nation fell into exile in London. They planned the day when they would be able to get there land back, and get rid on the Nazi power. -
Hitler Ordered Invasion of Russia
HItler ordered the invasion of Russia to once and for all destroy the "Jewish-Bolshevik menace." The troops first went in to Russia (soviet Union) followed by 4 groups of the SS. They were ordered to kill anone who could be an enemy of Germany. The Jews in The Soviet Union didn't even know they were in trouble. -
U.S Declares War on Japan
We Declared war on Japan because they attacked us in Pearl Harbor by crashing planes into our ships. they did this because they thought that this would be a chance to take out some of our navy fleet. In the process of attacking us they killed 3000 people who did not see this attack coming. -
Germany Declares War on U.S
Germany Declared War on the U.S after the Japanese declared war on us because japan and Germany are allies. This meant that now Germany would be fighting England, The Soviet Union (Russia), and now the U.S. But this didn't worry Japan and Germany because they already had so many soldiers and so much power over Europe that it would be insainly hard even for them to try it. And we did.
