  • Battle of Atlantic

    Battle of Atlantic
    Europe's liberation was at stake from the takeover of Germany. When Britain declared war on Germany, Germany set up ships on the North Atlantic between the Canadian Navy's dispatch in Nova Scotia and Britain cutting off Europe’s military supplies from North America. Canada’s navy leadership lead the convoy ships successfully to Europe. If it wasn’t for Canada, Europe would have been defenceless to the Nazi regime. Rank: 2nd Rank: 2nd
  • Liberation of Netherlands

    Liberation of Netherlands
    The Liberation of Netherlands was when Germany tried to take over the country like he did with several European countries at this point. Canada played a huge role in liberating the Netherlands and pushing Germany away until their commander surrendered the Canadian commander Charles Foulkes. Not only did we fight for the country, but we housed and protected the royal family in Ottawa until the liberation was over. Rank: 6th
  • Battle of Dunkirk

    Battle of Dunkirk
    Supplies for the Allied forces being sent from North America was usually sent to the beaches at Normandy. When the French port called Dunkirk was taken over by the Germans, Canadians constantly fought through several actions to regain power over the ports, in order to continue to supply Europe which eventually led to their independence. Rank: 4th
  • Battle of Britain

    Battle of Britain
    The Battle of Britain was a battle between the British Air Forces and the German Air Forces. Germany planned on bombing London and taking over the skies. Canada has a huge role in this battle because since the British Army had just came back from Dunkirk, they also had to leave their artillery, leaving them very unprepared, Britain called upon Canada to become the 7th British Army Corps and became the most vital position in the protection of Britain from the Hitler.   • Battle of Hong Kong

    Battle of Hong Kong
    This Battle was the attack from Japanese forces against the British Colony Hong Kong, Japan was well fortified by air and from homelands of China. Canada was the first to protect the colony of Britain’s, even when they were split up making the two battalions of Canada isolated in China, they still fought. Rank: 8th
  • Dieppe Raid

    Dieppe Raid
    The Dieppe raid was the attempt of the Allied troops to take over the German hold over the French port, Dieppe. The 2nd division of Canadian troops were called upon under the British Commonwealth to fight alongside, Britain, France and Poland. Canada helped on the skies and on the ground but they both failed. Germany made many obstacles on the port, making it hard to get anywhere close to the ports, while the Royal Canadian Air Force failed to lure the Luffwaffe away to battle. Rank: 5th
  • Italian Campaign

    Italian Campaign
    The Italian Campaign was the two year operations in and around Italy controlled by the Allied forces. When Germany invaded Italy, Canada's division that was standing idle in Britain were recruited to Italy. They fought through the whole campaign until 1945 when Germany surrendered. Canada took place in the invasion of Sicily and mainland Italy. Rank: 7th
  • D-Day

    D-Day
    Canada fought alongside US and Britain, each having their own landing of the Normandy beach and goals. Canada was the only one to achieve their goals and penetrate the farthest into France. Rank:1st
    Canada’s triumphs in this battle showed how they've grown as an individual country. Canada’s military was able to do something that others could not do themselves. This shows the world that Canada is not just a weak country under the British Commonwealth that they are powerful without Britain.
