Invasion of Poland
Germany, the Soviet Union, the Free City of Danzig, and a small Slovak contingent invade Poland. This marks the beginning of the war. To Poland this was called the September Campaign. To Germany this is known as the Poland Campaign. This left behind the horrible start of a new world war. -
Battle of France
Also known as the Fall of France. Germany invades France. Germany also conquered Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands. -
Invasion of Russia
Known as Operation Barbarossa to the Germans. Germany finally invades Russia. -
Pearl Harbor
Japan after months of planning, bombs the american navy base. They bomb them because of many reasons. First, being America blocks trade with them. Second, because they wanted to destroy important American fleet units. -
Battle of Midway
Huge navel battle that involved the Americans vs the Japanese. It lasted for three days only six months after Japan attacked Pearl Harbor. Japan lost four carriers, a cruiser, and 292 aircraft, and suffered 2,500 casualties. The Americans The U.S. lost the Yorktown, the destroyer USS Hammann, 145 aircraft, and suffered 307 casualties. The Americans won the battle. -
Italy surrenders
After years of war Italy finally is over powered by the allied powers. -
D-Day
D-day also known as the Normandy landings was the day the allied forces landed on the beaches of Normandy. This marked the beginning of the end for the Germans. -
End of the war
After 6 years of fighting the conflict that killed and ruined the lives of so many people had finally ended. The conflict killed over 80 million people and was the worst.
