    End of World War 1 leaves Germany devastated
    After World War 1, the allied powers demanded Germany to take full responsibility for the war, limit their military, and pay 31 billion dollars for reparation. Germany was definitely left in ruins leaving them hopeless and vulnerable.
  • March of Rome

    March of Rome
    While Germany was dealing with their own prblems, Mussolini rose in Italy. He led the "March of Rome" in order to take power as prime minister. He controlled elections, outlawed all opponents, and censored the press. Anther facist power was now in power.
  • Hitler becomes chancellor

    Hitler takes over as chancellor and enter the lives of German citizens. He called himself the Fuhrer(leader) and slowly rose in power. He believed in anti semitism and later in 1935, he enforced the Nuremberg Laws, limiting Jews' rights
  • Germany violates Treaty of Versailles

    This is Hitlers first act of aggression. He violates the Treaty of Versailles by building his army and occupying the Rhinland, and taking over Austria. Austria didn't rebel against Hitler, but instead, welcomed him with open arms.
  • Munich Agreement

    Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain and Hitler had a conference in Munich. Chamberlain agreed to give Germany the Sudetenland if he left the rest of the country alone. This was another act of appeasment in attempt to keep peace.
  • Nazi-Soviet Pact

    The USSR and Germany agree on a pact to not attack eachother. He did this to avoid fighting on both fronts
  • Invasion of Poland

    Germany invades Poland with their strategy called blitzkreig. Poland was defeated in 3 weeks. This sparks the start of the war as Britain and France ddeclare war on Germany. Hilter later on took over Denmark, Norway, Netherlands, Belgium, and Luxembourg
