    Balkan War

    The Balkan Wars is an event of two military conflicts that led to the collapse of the Ottoman Empire. These battles led the the Ottoman Empire losing all but two territories (part of Thrace and the city of Adrianople). Balkan Allies (Serbia, Greece and Bulgaria) set off to conquer the newly un controlled territories which led to the second conflict of the war. This led to the Allies separating, Bulgaria in one side and Serbia and Greece on another, Romania joined later on the majority side.

    Archduke Francis Ferdinand is assassinated

    This was the start of World War 1. A teenage Serbian revolutionary shot the archduke and his wife. Archduke Franz Ferdinand was the heir to the Austro-Hungarian throne. A secret revolutionary society of peasant students plotted to assassinate the Archduke. The world doesn’t know till this day if the Serbian government was included in the scheme to assassinate the Archduke.

    The assassination of archduke Francis Ferdinand sparked the start of World War 1. The war had 18 countries involved which included Germany, Britain, Austria-Hungary and more. These countries thought the war would only last a few months. These countries were split into categories, allies and central powers. The Allies included in Russia, Britain, and Belgium, they were later join by countries like the United States and Japan. The central powers were countries like Austria-Hungary and Germany

    The Lusitania is a British-owned steamship. This event was such a tragedy because of the lives that were lost. A German U-boat torpedoed the ship, killing 1,195 people including 128 Americans. This disaster immediately sparked tension between the Germans and neutral United States. This was one of many events that led the United States into joking World War 1.

    The Russian Revolution of 1917 was one of the most political events of that time. This revolution marked the end of the Romanov dynasty, which was the Tsars, and the long imperial rule. The Russian revolution started because of the economic hardship, food shortages and government corruption. The Bolsheviks led by revolutionary Vladimir Lenin, took power and destroyed the czarist rule. The Bolshevik became the Communist Party of the Soviet Union.

    Armistice

    Armistice is an agreement between opposite sides to stop war for a certain amount of time; a truce. On November 11, 1918 the fighting ceased, after 4 long year of fighting on the western front. The fighting continued everywhere else. The Armistice that Germany and the Allies formed led the World War one step closer to ending. This led to the increase of civilian morale and resulted in celebration and relief.

    The League of Nations was officially created on 10 January 1920. The League of Nations was established “to promote international cooperation and to achieve international peace and security.” 41 members states gathered at Geneva for their first assembly on 15 November 1920. This meeting had representatives for a lot of the existing states. These representatives corresponded to more than 70% of the worlds population.
