    British signed; India can't sell salt forcing them to buy from British industries.

  • Austria-Hungary declares war on Serbia

    Prior to this, Austria-Hungary had given Serbia an ultimatum in which Serbia accepted all but one demand which was Austrian participation in an internal inquiry on the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand. Austria-Hungary declared war due to suspicion of Serbia being the killer of him. Russia mobilized for war due to Serbia being a Russia protectorate

  • Japan joins the Allied Powers

    Japan took German colonies in the Pacific and China, they then issued the like of the 21 demands of China, seeking the same privileges of Europeans in China. China does not accept.

    • Indian Nationalists including Gandhi support joining the War; they believe it will move India towards self-government, Britain promised India that they would move towards self-government, they also provided material aid to British war effort.

    America ends neutrality (American companies trading with and aiding both sides in the war) after Germans sink the Lusitania full of American civilians (Germans believe America is aiding the British side).

    Peaceful protest held against the British rule in which British and Gurkha troops fire on crowd killing 379 protestors.
  • May 4th Movement (China)

    Students in China protest against imperialist ambitions in China; adults can't protest as they have to work and don't want to miss out on money so the kids go out instead.
  • Treaty of Versailles ends World War 1

    United Shitholes of America, France, Italy, Not so Great Britain all met up to create this. Germany and Russia are not involved in the meeting and Germany has major repercussions as a result of this document, creating a major conflict that ends up being a spark for World War 2.

    Says British have unlimited search and seizure of property in India
  • Washington Conference

    Conference held by major powers in the world in which they dictated the size of a country's navy; important to Japan as they forced Japan to hold a drastically inferior navy in comparison to the big Western powers which set Japan up to invade China again and start World War 2.
  • The Great Salt March (India)

    Mohandas Gandhi starts 240 mile march across India to Arab Sea to produce salt in protest of the Salt Act. British end up arresting Gandhi as well as 60,000 protestors
  • Government of India Act of 1935

    Drew back from India Act of 1919 and granted India a level of autonomy for self rule as a province of Great Britain
