    The Navigation Acts were a series of acts imposed by the British government to restrict colonial trade. This angered the colonies because it prevented them from shipping without stopping in England. This caused smuggling by the Americans and upset with the British government.

    The Treaty of Paris ended the French and Indian war and put Britain in a position of power. The war drained Britain of money which started the taxation on American colonies. This eventually led to the revolution.

    The British East India Co. we’re able to send tea directly to the colonies with first landing in England. Upset by this, the colonists protested and thus cause the Boston Tea Party.

    The Boston Tea Party was a political protest that involved colonists throwing boxes of tea off of British ships into the harbor. This was the first big revolt of the Americans, and it spurred on the colonists to finally fight for independence.

    The Intolerable Acts were created to punish the American colonies. Many saw this as suppression of their rights which led to the outbreak of the revolution.

    The delegates met once again in 1775 to discuss the state of the war. They ended up creating the Continental Army with George Washington leading it.

    The Continental Army moved to Valley Forge in the winter of 1777 into 1778. The army suffered greatly due to the conditions of the winter. The conditions brought the army together and improved their skills overall.

    The Battle of Yorktown was the last major battle fought in the revolution. The British were forced to surrender which led to the American’s victory.

    During the Constitutional Convention, the US Constitution was written and outlines the purpose of the government. This constitution established the United States government and citizens rights.

    When nine states ratified the constitution it officially became the basis for the US government. The constitution gave the government power while also separating it in branches.
