    Dorudon (30 million years ago)
The Dorudon was dwarfed by the Megalodon shark. In order to survive, the warm-blooded Dorudon escaped to the poles where the sharks were not able to thrive in. The Dorudon then evolved into the animals we know as killer whales and dolphins.

Basilosaurous (King Lizard) (39 million years ago)
The Basilosaurous was a 50-foot long whale. It was known to be the top predator against its smaller relative Dorudon. The Basilosaurous would feed on adult if not young Dorudon. As the poles got warmer, the water became more shallow forcing the Basilosaurous to hunt in shallow water.
Unfortunetly, it lacked the ability to dive and was unable to escape the monster shark (Megalodon). 36 million years ago, the Basilosaurous dies out.
  • Ambulocetus (49 million years ago)

    Ambulocetus (49 million years ago)
The Ambulocetus drank fresh water from rivers and lakes meaning that it lived primarilly on land. Over the years, its hind legs became small, and its tail grew wide for better movement in the water.
Unfortunetly, it still wasn't able to escape predators in the ocean. The Ambulocetus had poor activity on land and the marine world.
