Bellamy the whale is at the beds. Her father is on the krill hunt, but her mother is there. Bellamy meets another whale calf named Maleko who becomes her friend. -

The pod is breaching and the younger calves try to breach like the adults. Bellamy joins and then she and her mother go to bed. -
blog 2 part 1
Bellamy and her mother awake to find the pod in a gale. Bellamy is blown into a fishing net and is trapped in the storm. A turtle helps her out and finally she is able to free herself. She heads toward her mother but faints from exhaustion before she can reach her. -
blog 2 part2
Bellamy wakes up and sees that her tail is torn. The rest of the beds are in ruins. She and her mother discuss the situation and then her mother makes Bellamy take a rest. -
blog 3 part 1
A few fellow pod members come to see Bellamy's tail. While Bellamy is destracted, the pod leader Alika comes to her. He tells her of her father's return. -
blog 3 part 2
The pod is breaching again. Bellamy and Maleko swim over and under the adults backs, and then Maleko tries to swim over Lamar, an elder. They think Lamar is asleep, but he is not. When Maleko tries to leap over him, Lamar sends him flying with a flip of his tail. -

Bellamy's father arrives. Bellamy is nervous and hides. When her father sees her, he disapproves. Bellamy flees into the sea. -
blog 4 part 1
On her journey, Bellamy meets many animals. First, she meets a pod of talkative dolphins and eats flounder with them. Next, she meets a blue whale named Octavian. He protects Bellamy for a few days. After Octavian is gone, a flock of birds comes to eat the barnacles off her back. One of the birds, Hectia, talks with Bellamy. -

While she is in a kelp forest, Bellamy sees a shark. The shark does not see Bellamy and swims after a fish who dodges the shark. After the shark disapears into the kelp, the fish comes and hides behind Bellamy and explains to her what the shark is. When it leaves the fish and Bellamy separate and run from the kelp forest. -
blog 5 part 1
Bellamy starts to miss her mother and Maleko. Lost in thought, she ends up at Carmel Beach in California. A boat full of people pulls up next to Bellamy and take pictures of her. Bellamy breaches for them and then swims away. -
blog 5 part 2
Bellamy crosses paths with a turtle named Aida. Bellamy tells Aida about her situation. Aida advises her to spend the night in California and then leave for home. -
blog 6 part 1
On the journey home, Bellamy spots her friends the birds. She also sees a different pod of dolphins that tell her Alika is sick. In the kelp forest, she meets two seals. Bellamy falls asleep watching a cruise ship glide over the water. -
blog 7 part 1
When Bellamy arrives home, everyone is curious about where she has been. She tells Maleko and her mother the whole story, and they tell her that her father left the pod. They also explain that Alika died, and Bellamy is the new pod leader. Bellamy is finally proud of her size and strength.
