  • French and Indian War

    French and Indian War
    It was a conflict between France and Great Britian taking over all French lands in North America.The reason was mainly over natural resources such as fish and fur. The British eventually won.
  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    The British Parliment passed a sugar act because the British owed money to those who helped in the French and Indian war. The sugar act lead to the Townshend act wich led to the Tea Act.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    King George lll made a tax stamps that had to be put on legal documents. The reason for this is because he needed money because he was broke. The colonists were very angry.
  • Townshed Act

    Townshed Act
    The king taxed the colonists on paper, paint, lead, and, glass. He taxed them again because he was still broke and the colonists were getting just a bit more angry.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    The Boston Massacre started when a colonist was arguing with a red coat on King St. When other people saw they quickly joined in. The red coat also called for back up. Then it turned into people (redcoats) fired, then three people died instantly and two others died later.

    The king made the colonists pay a tax on tea because he needed money and the british drink a lot of tea.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
    The colonists were tired of paying a tax on tea, so they dressed up like Mohak indians and broke onto a ship that had tea on it and dumped 300 chests of tea into the Boston Harbor. The king was so angry that he closed the harbor.
  • Ride of Revere

    Ride of Revere
    Pual Revere went on his famous ride because he went to warn the colonists that the British were coming. He rode from Boston to Lexington. He also warned the militia to get ready to fight and go hide.
  • The Declaration of Independence

    The Declaration of Independence
    The Continental Congress (C.C.) decided to write a letter to the king explaining why they want to be free from the king. The exepted on July 4, 1776. Thanks to the C.C. we are now the United States of America. That is why we call July 4, 1776 Independence day because that's the day we became a free country.
  • The Battle of Yorktown

    The Battle of Yorktown
    The Battle of Yorktown was actually part of the Civil war. It was fought over the secession of the Confederacy.
