  • Plessy v. Ferguson

    Plessy v. Ferguson
    Plessy v. Ferguson, was a pivotal decision made in 1896 which separated whites and colored people in public facilities, so long as the facilities were equal. This is also known as the “Separate but Equal” ruling. This was a time after the Reconstruction Era so this directly impacted all races in the education system by separating them from Whites, which is unconstitutional. Today it is known as one the worst decisions ever made by the Supreme Court.
  • Brown v. Board of Education

    Brown v. Board of Education
    Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka, 347 U.S. 483 (1954),[1] was another impactful decision made by the Supreme Court. The court case stated it being unconstitutional to separate public schools from black and white students, which overturns Plessey v. Ferguson. It directly impacted blacks on a civil rights perspective, a first huge step towards equal rights. No one was negatively impacted.

    Title IX
    A ruling directly towards the Education System "No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance."
  • Education of all Handicapped Children Act

    Education of all Handicapped Children Act
    An act enacted by Congress that any kid with mental or physical disabilities was granted money to provide them the same level of education. This greatly impacted anyone with a disability for they were now able to achieve anything through education just like everyone else and just like it should be.
