More recently YouTube has been used more for advertising and promotion so artists and companies can use it to reach audiences.

    It was launched on December 8, 2009. The videos on Vevo are syndicated across the web with Google and Vevo sharing the advertising revenue. It offers videos from three big music companies Sony, EMI and Universal. It has a worldwide audience this could partly be connected to youtube as vevo has its own youtube channel which gets millions of hits each day.
