    Start of the French and Indian War

    The French and Indian War began in 1754 and was fought between the British and the French with Native Americans choosing sides. They were fighting over land and resources in North America. Most Native Americans sided with the French.
  • End of French and Indian War

    End of French and Indian War

    It ended in 1763. It was a 7-year war but they signed the treaty or like agreement 2 years after the war ended. It was between the French and British but they were on the Indians' land so they had to choose whether to fight with the French and British. Most of them worked with the French but the French lost so the French either became a part of the British or they had to leave.

    The Stamp Act of 1765 was an Act of Great Britain that imposed a direct tax on the British colonies towards American colonists. It happened in New york. Afterward, Parliament decided to cancel (repeal) the Stamp Act in March 1766.

    The Boston Massacre happened on March 5, 1770, in Boston Massachusetts. It was a riot where British soldiers killed 5 colonists. As a result, the colonists wanted their independence more, making them unite against Britain.

    The Boston Tea Party was a political protest that happened on December 16th, 1773. This event occurred because the colonists were furious and felt the British were wrong for using them to gain revenue. So, the colonists dumped tea in Griffin’s Wharf Boston, Massachusetts to show defiance (going against) British rule. This was to clearly state Americans wouldn’t take taxation. The impact of the Boston Tea Party was enormous leading to the start of the American Revolution.

    The Intolerable Acts were a series of 4 laws passed by the British Parliament to punish the Americans for the Boston Tea Party. The four laws that were passed were the Boston Port Act, Massachusetts Government Act, Administration of Justice Act, and the Quebec Act. This happened in 1774. The outrage the British caused was a major push of the start of the American Revolution.

    The First Continental Congress was made up of representatives from the colonies and met in 1774 because of the Coercive Acts. The accomplishment was a compact among the colonies to boycott British goods.
  • The Second Continental Congress & Olive Branch Petition

    The Second Continental Congress & Olive Branch Petition

    The Continental Congress was a meeting of delegates from each of the Thirteen Colonies. Colonists accomplished The Articles of Confederation which was to create a real government. Their major accomplishment was the Declaration of Independence. The Olive Branch Petition was accepted by the Continental Congress on July 5th, 1775. They made this because they wanted to avoid a huge war between Great Britain and the Thirteen Colonies in America.

    The Declaration of Independence was the first written document by a nation’s people about their right to choose their own government. The outcome of the Declaration of Independence was how colonists were motivated to seek independence and to then have a war against Great Britain. Americans eventually won, what we have now, their independence.
