Lombardi graduates from Fordham University
After a successful college career at Fordham University, where he became a member of the "Seven Blocks of Granite," Lombardi graduated. Two years later he enrolled at Fordham Law School. -
Gets Married
Lombardi married Marie Planitz on August 31, 1940. They were married for 40 years up until his death in 1970. -
First Child is born
Marie miscarried her first child with Lombardi. This caused her to have a driking problem. However, April 27, 1942, the Lombardi's first child, Vincent Harold Lombardi, was born. -
Super Bowl I
At this time Lombardi was the Green Bay Packers head coach. The first AFL-NFL World Championship in professional football to be known was known as the Super Bowl. Played at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum located in Los Angeles, California, the Green Bay Packers defeated the Kansas City Chiefs 35-10. -
Super Bowl II
The second AFL-NFL world championship known as Super Bowl II. Played at the Orange Bowl in Miami, Florida, the NFL Green Bay Packers beat the AFL Oakland Raiders 33-14. Both Super Bowls were coached by Lombardi. -
Vince Lombardi Dies
Lombardi was part owner of the Washigton Redskins at this time. He led the team to their first winning season in 14 years in 1969. Unfortunatly, he died 1970. The cause of death was Colon cancer. -
Lombardi Funeral
Lombardi's funeral was held September 7, 1970, in Manhatten, at St. Patrick's Cathedral. -
Lombardi Induction into St. Francis Prep Hall of Fame
Lombardi was inducted into the St. Francis Prepatory Hall of Fame on October 2, 2014.
