Nixon finally won the election after 8 years after losing to Kennedy since the 1960 election. -

President Nixon declares an invasion of Cambodia with the US troops saying they were going to bomb Viet Cong base camps. -
Kent State students shot
When a crowd of college students came together to protest the Vietnam War, the National Guard opened fire on the students killing 4 and injuring 9.
