    Vietnamese forces occupied the French command post at Dien Bien Phu. The French troops ceased fire. 8,000 French troops were killed and 12,000 were wounded. 3,000 Vietnamese troops were killed and 8,000 troops were injuried. Vietnam celebrated their victory while the French were shattered.
