  • Khrushchev visits United States

    Khrushchev's visit to the US was an important point in the Cold War. Following Stalin, he sought to reform diplomatic relationships with the US and "get to know each other."
  • Gulf of Tonkin Incident

    North Vietnamese boats fire on two US Navy ships. The Gulf of Tonkin Resolution approves military action.
  • The Tet Offensive

    The Tet Offensive was a coordinated series of attacks on places and stations of strategic importance in Vietnam by the US. Vietnamese victories highlighted the start of the decline and withdrawal of US troops in Vietnam.
  • The Pentagon Papers

    The pentagon papers were leaked documents that exposed lies by the US government. The government claimed they were trying to deescalate tensions and bring the war to an end, however the documents revealed this was not true and in fact the US had stayed in Vietnam and only kept losing.
