  • Japan surrenders

    Japan surrendered on September 2,1945 to the Allies. Also on this day Vietnam declared its independence. Their leader at that time was HO chi minh.
  • Indochina War

    France did not accept Vietnam as a independence state. On 1946 some french warships attacked the Haiphong port city. On this attack about 6,000 Vietnamese civilians lost their lives. On the following month Vietnam attacked french ground forces.
  • Vietnam attack french soldiers

    On march 1954, viet mich attacked a large french military base. This base was known as Dien Bien Phu and was located on northern Vietnam.
  • The ending of the indochina war

    On May 7, 1954 Viet Minh takes over of the french base ending the war. Viet Minh wanted the french out of their country for good. French and Viet minh sign a the Geneva agreement.
  • The US attack

    On April US soldiers go to war with Viet Cong. On this day president Johnson sends about 60,000 troops to Vietnam. The US wins this battle and about 45 soldiers died and about 600 Viet cong soldiers died in this battle
  • Viet attacks us base

    On February 7,1965 Viet cong attacks a military base located in the south.
  • US soldiers land on Vietnam

    On march 8, 1965 was the day that US marines set foot in Vietnam territorial. They were treated well by local officials and citizens.
  • US marines prepare for battle

    When the us marines arrived in Vietnam they went straight to prepare for any type of attack. They started to dig fox holes. They also brought enough ammo or any supplies they would need.
