President Nixon announced his vietnamization plan. It would mean that the U.S. would attempt to train and arm South Vietnamese troops so the U.S. could decrease their ground presence.

This amendment to the constitution lowered the voting ate from 21 to 18. The main reason behind it was the vietnam war. Young men were being drafted and sent to war to risk their lives for the U.S. but they couldn't vote.

The War Powers Act was created to check the presidents power to send the U.S. into an armed conflict. The president can only be engaged in cnflict for 60 days unless it is authorized.
