USB 1.0

USB 1.0 was released in January of 1996. I had speeds from 1.5 Mb per second and 12 Mb per second.

USB 1.1

USB 1.1 was an updated version of 1.0. It fixed many of the problems that arose from USB 1.0, mostly relating to hubs.

USB 2.0

Apr 1, 2000

USB 2.0 had a higher speed of 480 Mb per second. Many modifiaations were made to USB 2.0.

USB 3.0

USB 3.0 defined a "super speed' mode with speeds at 5 Gb per second. The port is usually colorred blue and was backwards compatible with USB 2.0 cables and ports.

USB 3.1

USB 3.1 was announced inJanuary of 2013. It is said to have speeds up to 10Gb per second.
