  • Philippine Insurrection

During the Philippine Insurrection there was more than 4,000 people who died. It was also known as the Phillippine - America war, which occured in 1899 to 1902. The Philipphines believed that the US will give them freedom but they didin't. This is an example of US imperialism because the US tricked the Philipphine taking control over them.
  • Hay-Buanau-Varilla Treaty

The Hay-Buanau-Varilla Treaty was named after its two primary negotiators, Philippe-Jean Bunau-Varilla, the French diplomatic representative of Panama, and United States Secretary of State John Hay. The Hay-Buanau-Varilla Treaty is an example of the US imperialism in regard to Latin America. Two weeks after Panama gained independence from Colombia, this treaty secured the rights of building the canal in Panama, giving the US absolute authority over it.
  • Roosevelt Corollary

The corollary states that the US will take place in conflicts between European countries and Latin American countries to enforce lawful claims of the European powers, rather than having the Europeans press their claims directly. This is an example of US Imperialism because the United States was exercising "international police power" to put an end to chronic unrest or wrongdoing in the Western Hemisphere.
  • US occupation of the Dominican Republic

The Dominican Republic was deeply in debt in 1904. An agreement was signed in 1905 for the US to take over the customs houses and alleviate Dominica debt. This is an example of US imperialism because the US took over the Dominican Republic.
  • Cuban intervention

The first intervention was brought about in connection with a presidential election. The US regularly intervened, occupying Cuba again in 1906 and 1909. This is an example of US imperalisim because the US got involved in the cuba affairs which they were bossing them around.
  • The Great White Fleet

The Great White Fleet was a popular nickname for the US navy battle fleet. The Great White Fleet is a gracious message that U.S. is not trying to take total control of any nation, but if need be, they will have to interfere in order to protect the nation with American imperialism. This is an example of US imperialisim because if they need economic assistance or are at risk of European imperialism they would interfere.
  • Panama Canal (completion of the canal)

The canal was of use to the US, which completed the present Panama Canal in 1913 and officially opened it in 1914. The state of Panama was created through its separation from Colombia in 1903, due to a US backed revolt, so the US could then get control of the Canal project area. This is an example of the US imperialism because the US was pretty much taking over control of the Panama Canal.
