    Andrew Jackson was born on March 15, 1767 in Waxhaws, a city on the border of North and South Carolina. Jackson was born into poverty. His parent were Andrew and Elizabeth Jackson. He also had two older brothers, Hugh and Robert Jackson.

    Jackson Enlists in the Revolutionary War
    Andrew Jackson joined the Continental Army in 1780 when he was 13 years old. His older brothers enlisted in the war as well. The Revolutionary War nearly wiped out all of his family. His oldest brother, Hugh, died in battle and his other older brother, Robert, died after his hands were cut off.

    Battle of Horshoe Bend
    Battle of Horshoe Bend was fought at an Upper Creek village on a horseshoe-shaped bend in the Tallapoosa RIver in Alabama. Andrew Jackson allowed teh native woman and children across teh river before he attacked, so they would be safe. After this, Jackson's troops attacked the enemy and nearly wiped them out. The Upper Creek lost more than 550 people, while Jackson's troops only lost 49 people.

    Andrew Jackson had rushed to New Orleans when he found out that an attack was about to happen. British forces were sighted near Lake Borgne and Jackson declared martial law in New Orleans. He wanted every able-bodied man to help in the city's defense. Jackson then launched a nightime attack. Later, the attack on Jackson's troops, costed the British 2,000 casulties and the British soon withdrawed from the war

    The candidates of the Election of 1824 were Democratic, Andrew Jackson, Whig, John Quincy Adams, Whig, Henry Clay, and Democratic, William Crawford. Andrew Jackson won the Popluar vote, but no candidate won the electoral vote. They then took the top three candidates and let the House of Representatives break the tie. Andrew Jackson called this the "corrupt bargain" because Henry Clay was the Speaker of teh House so he convinced people in the House of Representatives to vote for John Quincy Adams

    The candidates for the Election of 1828 were Democartic, Andrew Jackson and Whig, John Quincy Adams, who won the Election of 1824 and was president for one term. Andrew Jackson won both the popular vote and the electoral vote by a landslide.
  • Indian Removal Act

    Indian Removal Act
    Andrew Jackson signed the Indian Removal Act on May 28, 1830. This authorized the president to give unsettled land, west of the Mississippi River in exchange for Indian territories inside state boundaries. Some tribes left peacefully, but most resisted the act. Later, the Indians in the state boundaries, were forcefully moved west of the Mississippi River, by the United States Goverment. About 4,000 Cherokees died on this journey and is now known "Trail of Tears".

    The Tariff of 1828 was a tariff on imports to protect domestic economy rather than raise revenue. This tariff hurt the Southern Planters the most. South Carolina declared the tariff illegal by passing the Nullification Act due to Vice President, John C. Calhoun's, beleif in states right. South Carolina also threathened to secede if the tariff was not lowered or taken out. This crisis was resolved when Henry Clay lowered the tariff, but gave the president more power.

    Georgia was moving Native Americans west. Worcester vs. Georgia was a Supreme Court case that stated that Indians had a right to remain in Georgia.
  • Bank War

    The Second Bank of the United States by Federalist, Alexander Hamilton. The president of the Bank was Nicholas Biddle. The purpose of the was to regulate economic policies.Andrew Jackson didn't like the Bank because he thought it had too much power. At the end of 1831, Nicholas Biddle submitted an early pettion of the Bank's charter to Congress, but Jackson vetoed the charter for the Bank's renewal.
