    The right of citizens that their vote can not be denied or abridged.

  • Battle of the Alamo

    Event in the Texas Revolution. The Texans wanted to gain Independence from the Mexican Troops.
  • Panic of 1837

    Profits and wages went down while the unemployment rate went up.
  • Pre-Emption Act

    Allowed squatters to purchase up to 160 acres of land at a low price by the government.
  • Bear Flag Revolt

    A small group of settlers in California revolted against the Mexican government. They said that California was an independent state.
  • US - Mexican War

    A dispute starting at the US annexation of Texas and if Texas ended in the US of in Mexico.
  • Fugitive Slave Law

    A law that was passed to have citizens help in the capture of runaway slaves.
  • Compromise of 1850

    Called for California being a free state., strengthened the fugitive slave law and abolition of the slave trade in a few parts of the country.
  • Sutter's Fort

    People start moving west, the gold rush begins. This a Mexican territory in California.
  • Gadsden Purchase

    A purchase made by the US to the Mexican government that bought present day Arizona and New Mexico.
  • Bleeding Kansas

    A period of violence when people were settling in Kansas.
  • Dred Scott Decision

    A court case that was it slave owners could take their slaves to the west. It also asked the question if slavery should be allowed in the west.
  • Harper's Ferry

    US military arsenal that was targeted by John Brown and his armed group of abolitionists. Located in West Virginia.
  • Civil War

    1861- 1865
    A war fought by the North and the South over slavery, economics and state rights.

  • Gettysburg Address

    Lincolns speech at Gettysburg that addressed the start of our nation, Way they were at Gettysburg and the memorial of the fallen soldiers all under 3 minutes.
  • Emancipation Proclamation

    Lincolns set all slaves free and forever free under this proclamation, in the rebellious states.
  • Gettsyburg

    The battle and turning point of the American Civil War. It was the bloodiest battles in the civil war. It also ended the enslavement of freed slaves from the North.
  • 13th Amendment

    This was a ratified amendment. Continued abolish of slaves and involuntary servitude.
  • 14th Amendment

    This was a ratified amendment. Gave all natural born or naturalized people of the United States citizenship.
