    The Seven Years War

    This is known as the first global conflict, as it involved France, Austria, Saxony, Sweden, Russia, Prussia, Hanover, and Great Britain, though it was primarily between France and Britain to establish global dominance. The war resulted in a British victory, but caused them to go deep into debt, which then caused heavy taxation on the colonies.

    The Boston Massacre

    A bloody confrontation between British soldiers and colonists, where colonists started attacking a lone soldier named Hugh White, so he started to fight back. Eventually things got out of hand when more soldiers and colonists arrived, and trigged an all-out brawl between the two parties.
  • The Boston Tea Party

    The Boston Tea Party

    American colonists were angry at the British's rule imposing "no taxation without representation," so a group of them dumped hundreds of chests of tea into the harbor. This event serves as the first act of defiance to British rule by the colonists, and showed how to colonists were willing to fight back against tyranny.

    The American Revolutionary War

    Due to the debt accumulated from the Seven Years War, Britain began to heavily tax the colonies with acts like the Tea Act, Stamp Act, and the Sugar Act. These unfair taxes, as well as the tyranny that the colonists were subjected to, caused the colonies to start a revolution against England and declare independence. The fighting went on for about six years, and ended with the American victory at the Battle of Yorktown. The war officially came to an end with the Treaty of Paris two years later.

    The Declaration of Independence is published

    The Second Continental Congress officially established the Declaration of Independence, which cut off any political connection to Britain and served to announce their independence from the nation. It also described the many motives behind their choice to separate from the rule of King George III.

    Shay's Rebellion

    An armed uprising occurred due to the state government increasing taxes upon individuals and their trades. Daniel Shays and his men fought against the government's unjust policies and political corruption. The federal government found itself unable to fund troops to end the rebellion, so the Massachusetts state militia had to put a stop to the rebels. This rebellion exposed the Articles of Confederation as weak and inspired many government figures to strive to strengthen the federal government.

    The Constitution of the United States is written

    The Constitution of the United States, primarily written by James Madison and ratified at the Constitutional Convention, was created to serve as supreme law of the new United States. This new law created the three branches of government that are used today, the Legislative, Judicial, and Executive, and divides the power between the federal and state governments. Most importantly, though, it serves to protect the individual rights of the citizens, which were intruded upon during England's rule.

    The Invention of the Cotton Gin

    Eli Whitney invented this machine which served to separate the seeds from the cotton fibers in a quick and easy manner. This invention was one of the major causes of the rise of slavery in the United States, as cotton became a very profitable cash crop and a lot work was needed to pick the cotton.
