  • proclamation of 1763

    This proclamation did not allow colonists to settle west of the Appalachian Mountains.The British government feared the conflict between colonists and Native Americans would lead to another war.They also could not afford to pay British troops to defend the western lands.Colonists were enraged by this proclamation because they felt they had won the right to settle in the Ohio River Valley after winning the French and Indian War.

    This law required all legal and commercial documents to carry an official stamp showing that a tax had been paid.All diplomas,contracts,and wills had to carry a stamp.Even published materials such as newspaper had to be written on special stamped paper.
  • townshend acts

    Parliament passed the townshend acts.They were acts that places duties or important taxes on glass,paint,lead,tea and other goods.British use writs of asistance to enforce acts.Colonists were angry.There were lots protesters.Colonists felt like their rights were violate.The townshend acts made Colonists feel angry
  • boston tea party/tea act

    Parliament passed the Tea Act in 1773.That gave Britain control over American tea trade.That made the Colonists angry.Protesters protested against the Tea Act and the Sons of Liberty organized a protest know as the Boston Tea Party.In 1773,men disguised as Native Americans boarded 3 tea ships and they destroyed lots of chests of tea.Britain wanted repayment and men responsible brought to trial.
