    Proclamation of 1763
    This proclamation did not allow colonists to settle west of the Appalachian Mountains. The British government feared the conflict between colonists and Native Americans would lead to another war. They also could not afford to pay British troops to defend the western lands. Colonists were enraged by this Proclamation because they felt they had won the rights to settle in the Ohio River Valley after winning the French and Indian War.

    Quartering Act
    Parliament passed the Quartaring Act in 1765. that requires colonists to house British soldiers and provide them with supplies. so many colonists did not like this.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    This says that all colonist with all comercial document must carry an official stamp,this shows a tax has been paid. Many colonial merchants boycotted the British goods.The Sons of Liberty protest British policies. Then Parliament repeals the Stamp Act.

    The Townshed Acts suspends New Yorks assembly until New Yorkers housed the troops. After this act was passed this placed duties or import taxes on glass, led, tea, paint, and other goods. The British used writs of assistance to search businesses or homes for smuggled goods.
  • Tea Act and The Boston Tea Party

    Tea Act and The Boston Tea Party
    The Tea Act gave Britain control over American tea trade and colonist still had to pay tax on tea witch angered the colonist. The Sons of Liberty organized a protest known as the Boston Tea Party. During the Boston Tea Party colonists dumped hundreds of chest of tea into the Boston Harbor.

    The Olive Branch Petition is considered a symbol of peace between Britain and the colonies. However, the king rejected it. He blocked ships from leaving their port.

    This was where the first battle of the Revolutionary War began. It started when the first shot was heard and all the soldiers and militiamen were deffending themselves,The British troops were than forced to retreat.

    The Declaration of Independence was adopted by the continental congress. This proclaimed independence of the colonies. This claims that people have rights that the government cannot take away.
