  • Proclamation of 1763

    This proclamation did not allow colonists to settle west of the Appalachian Mountains. The British government feared the conflict between colonists and Native Americans would lead to another war. They also could not afford to pay British troops to defend the western lands. Colonists were enraged by this Proclamation because they felt they had won the right to settle in the Ohio River Valley afrer winning the French and Indian War.

  • Stamp Act

    This required all legal and commercial documents to carry an official stamp showing a tax has been paid. The colonists didnt like this either because of the high price just for a stamp. it seemed like a good idea to Parliment though
  • Quartering Act

    It required the colonists to house British soliders and provide them with supplies. The Parliment had to protect colonists. The colonists were mad about having British soliders come to thier house whenever they wanted to.
  • Townshed Acts

    Suspended New Yorks assembly until New York agreed to house troops. This ment to take away thier rights until they housed troops. The colonists were not happy about this either.
  • Tea Act/ Boston Tea Party

    A group of men threw tea over the ship. They threw tea because they were mad about the Tea Act.
  • Olive Branch Petition

    This means peace and wisdom amoung the colonies. This shows that people will be fair and show peace. When they say giving the Olive Branch, which means peace
  • Battles of Lexington and Concord

    First Revolutionary War with Loyalists and Patriots. They were fighting over Lexington and Concord. Lexington was won by the British and Concord was won by the Colonists.
  • Declaration of Independence

    A committee who wanted to be a free coutry. They wanted to be free and think for themselves. They also wanted to have thier own laws.
