  • The Great Awakening

     The Great Awakening
    The Great Awakening was an unorganized ,but widespread movement of evangelical Christian sermons and church meetings. It took place from the 1730s and the 1740s. The reason why the Great Awakening started was because the decline of faith and dedication in religion of the colonies. A person involved in the Great Awakening was Johnathan Edwards. He was one of the most important of the movement. He replaced his grandfather as pastor of the Congregational Church in Massettusets. He preached sermons
  • French and Indian War

    French and Indian War
    The French and Indian War started with the problem of too much power and land. In the event the British and the French fought for recovery of power. The colonists responded by sending delegates to Albany, New York to discuss ways of cooperating in times of crisis. It all led up to the British winning the war and power and land. This was important because the British won colonial power and trade.
  • Proclaimation of 1763

    Proclaimation of 1763
    The beginnings of the Proclaimation were the fear that the leaders had that more fighting would take place if colonists continued to move westward into Indian lands. This document prevented colonists to move westward into foreign lands. Colonists ignored the Proclaimation and refused to follow it. The document led up to the expantion of the colonies, since they did what was on the contrare. this was important because it divided the settlement of colonials past the Appalachian Mountains.
  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    The Sugar Act began withe the fact that the armies needed funds to have the British protect the colonies. What happened was the colonists were made to pay taxes for the armies and it was difficult for them. The colonies started to plan boycotts. This event was important because it helped raise money for the armies protecting the colonies from Indian attacks. Since Parliament was taxing them, the colonies started to smuggle sugar in, so they started catching the smugglers.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    The Stamp Act began when the colonists did not have another idea for making moneyfor the army. Colonies were taxed and were required to purchase a stamp whenever they bought something. The colonials responded by going to New York and creating the Sons of Liberty. Then the act had soon ended from boycotts of the group.
  • Townshend Acts

    Townshend Acts
    Since many people didn't pay their taxes, there became a law that Parliament passed to enforce the stop of smugglers. The colonists responded by large-scale boycotts of the British goods. The importance of this was that it helped pay military expenses. So it ended in repeal of that law.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    The Boston Massacre began when the Bostonians saw the British soldiers as a threat. During it people began a battle about the arguement, and many died. The colonists were angry and started mini-wars. This all summed up to creating propoganda. In the end, the Jury branded of the hands of the soldiers.
  • Tea Act

    Tea Act
    The tea act began from the smugglers and other taxes.The law was passed to be taxed on tea. The colonists opposedit because smugglers and mearchants thought it would take them out of business. In the end, Parliament was no tgetting enough money. This event was important because it created the Boston Tea Party.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
    This began because of the Tea Act. The colonists became angry of this. So, the colonists disguised themselves as Indians, and they dumped tea into the Boston Harbor. Colonists said that the Boston harbor is a tea pot. In the end, the tea was of no use and gone.
  • Intolerable Acts

    Intolerable Acts
    This act started from the Boston Tea Party. Parliament closed the Boston harbor; they cancelled the charter; moved trials to Britain; and they allowed new Quatering Acts. The colonists responded by calling boycotts, publishing propogandas and canvenced the First Continental Congress. This was importans because it was laws that Parliament used for the Boston Tea Party. But in the end, the act was repealed in 1778.
  • Battle of Lexington/ Concord

    Battle of Lexington/ Concord
    This battle as the British began to march into Concord. There was a man who delivered this message back home to warn that the British were coming. This was a war that left 8 people dead and 10 people wounded.The colonists responded by sending 70 Minutemen into the war. In the end, tragedy was in the colonies for the families who lost loved ones.
  • Battle of Bunker Hill

    Battle of Bunker Hill
    This began when colonial forces held Boston under a siege. This was a battle that had the British retreat. The colonists responded by fighting back. The war ende when The British forces beagan to retreat. This was an important part of history because if was a great victory for the colonists.
  • Common Sense

    Common Sense
    Thomas Paine wrote a documents named " Common Sense." He wrote it because of what he saw in the monarchy of European countries, like Britain. Whats written inside is the discussion of monarchy. The colonists supported many facts of Thomas' ideas. This document was important because it explained the system of monarchy in Europe, which was unatural and wrong. This really did not end; it was made into a reality.
  • Decplaration of Independence

    Decplaration of Independence
    The Declaration of Independence was written because the colonies declared their independence from England and to explain why. This document explained the abuses of King George III, and it explained the Self-evident Truths. Tose truths are that all men are created equally, they are provided with unalienable rights, and among those rights are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness. Colonists were very much agreed with the document. It led up to the split of England and the colonies.
  • Battle of Saratoga

    Battle of Saratoga
    The Battle of Saratoga began when the britains were walking through New York. The Patriots fought against them to protect the colonies. The colonists also elped out in the war. This war ended by surrender of the British. This was a very important event because it was a great victory for the pats.
  • Battle of Yorktown

    Battle of Yorktown
    This battle began after Benedict Arnold switched sides and was a traited the colonies. The colonies and the British fought hard against each other. They quickly responded to the switch of sides by Benedict. This was also important because it was another victory for the colonials.
  • Treaty of Paris

     Treaty of Paris
    The Treaty of Paris, signed on September 3, 1783, ended the American Revolutionary War between Great Britain and the United States. Colonists were very happy and relieved that they are there own country. This was one of the most important events because it signified that the colonies were now free and it ended the Revolutionary war.
