  • The Great Awakening

    The Great Awakening
    The Great Awakening was a 20 year period of an unorganized but widespread movement that was of Christian sermons and church meetings. This event was caused in the colonies because many church leaders feared that the people were losing faith in their religion. During the Great Awakening, ministers had public church gatherings that helped people experience a "great awakening" in the religious lives. The Great Awakening impacted US history because, it helped everybody with their religious faith

    and their religious views. Also because, colonists started to question the British authority that caused many more events in the future.
  • French and Indian War

    French and Indian War
    The French and Indian War was a war that occured between the British and the French. The French and the British both wanted to take control over the colonies and the trade routes. This caused an argument between the two colonies. During this event, they fought for the colonies, trade routes and the areas that were not yet claimed. This led up to the French and the British to sign the Treaty of Paris. This also led up to the Proclomation of 1763.

    Proclamation of 1763
    The Proclamation of 1763 was a law saying that the colonists could not go past the frontier of Appalachian. The Proclamation was created because leaders feared that fighting would take place on the frontier. It banned further British colonial settlement creating a line between colonial and Indian lands. This caused colonists that already moved there to "remove themselves from such settlement." But this was a difficult law to enforce because many colonists chose to ignore it.

    The Sugar Act was a law that set taxes on molasses and sugar that was imported by colonists. This event was caused because the Parliament wanted to make money because of the dept from The French and Indian War. During this event, Parliament put taxes on things which caused the colonists to boycott the items. This event was ended because later on the Parliament propsed the Stamp Act. The Sugar Act was a important event because it was the first law passed to make money for the colonies.

    The Stamp Act was a law that required colonists to put a stamp on nearly all paper documents. This event was caused because the colonists could not raise money. During this event, Parliament also put taxes on paper items which caused the colonists to respond by forming The Sons of Liberty, and boycotting the items. The Stamp Act was an important event because it helped the colonists unite together and fight against the British.

    The Townshend Acts was a law that placed duties on imported glass, leads, paper, paints, and tea. This event was caused because they later on used the money to pay for military expenses. This caused the colonists to react with another large scale of boycotting the items. This event was important because it once again, was another law used to make money for the colonies.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    The Boston Massacre was an important event because they used propaganda against each British colonies. The Boston colonists saw the presence of the British troops as a threat ordered by the British government. During this event, there was a huge riot that included fights and killings. The Boston Massacre was ended because some of the soilders felt guilty. This event helped prevent future violence.

    The Tea Act was an important event because every year several million pounds of tea were bought. This got the attention of a tea company, which asked if they could sell the tea directly to the other colonies. During the Tea Act, many merchants feared that the company would put them out of buisness. All of this led to the Boston Tea Party.

    The Boston Tea Party is an important event because, it showed how much the colonists disliked the Tea Act. During this event, the colonists disguised themsevles as Indians so that they could sneak in onto the boats, and dump thousands of pounds of tea into the Boston Harbor. The Boston Tea Party led to the Intolerable Acts.

    The Intolerable Acts was an important event because it punished the people that was involved in the Boston Tea Party. The lord in the north was furious once he heard about the Boston Tea Party, which lead to him making 4 new laws. The first law was to shut down the harbor until Boston paid for all the destroyed tea. The second law canceled Massachusetts's charter and gave the colony a legislator. The third law moved the trials of royal colonial officials to Britian. The fourth law was called the
  • Battle of Lexington/Concord

    Battle of Lexington/Concord
    The Battle of Lexington/Concord was an important event because, the British and the colonists were going against each other. During this event, the British did not find many weapons because all the colonists took them. However, the colonists were still outnumbered. All in all, in that day, the British and the colonists were killed.
  • Battle of Bunker HIll

    Battle of Bunker HIll
    The Battle of Bunker Hill was an important event because it shows the fight between the British and the colonists. During this event, the British prepared to secure a town, and the colonists were told of the plan. Later on, the British were suprised to see that the colonists secured the hill. The colonists were prepared to fight, which they won. This event was ended because, when the British gained control of the hill, they suffered many deaths.

    Common Sense was important because, it freely asked for independance from Great Britian. Common Sense was a phamplet written by Thomas Paine. It was written so American colonists could understand it. It was written in the phamplet about having independance, and how he relied on bibical references. This was an impact to the Declaration of Independance.

    The Declaration of Independance was an important event because it gave the colonists freedom from the Britian government. The Declaration of Independance declared that the 13 colonies must be freed from Britian, and be independant states. It is said that all men are created equally, and we have unalienable rights which are, life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Overall, the colonists were happy that they were no longer ruled and that they were independant.
  • Battle of Saratoga

    Battle of Saratoga
    The Battle of Saratoga was important because, it was considered the turning point in the wars, and the fate of the British ways. During this battle, the colonies made it only 8 miles then had to retreat to Saratoga, because the general had to flee from where he was fighting to stay safe. All in all, this was an important war.

    The Battle of Yorktown was an important event because in the last battle against the Americans and the Britians, the Americans had victory over the Britians. During the event, the American forces got help from the French. Later on, papers were signed saying that the British were the prisoners of war.

    "quartering act" which required colonists to take care of the British soilders by housing and supplying them. All of this led to colonists to write plays and phamplets to criticize the actions of the government.
