    The Great Awakening
    -Many peaple follow the stuff the ministers and priests said
    -The ministers and priests holding revivals and church reasons
    -It was a widespread unorganized of christian sermons and church meetings
    -Happened during the 1730's and 1740's
    -It prepared people for the American Revelution
    -It happened in states from Georgia to New England
  • French and Indian War

    French and Indian War
    -This war was between the Britsh and French
    -The time span is from 1754 to 1763
    -They were fighting for power and trade routes
    -The war ended because the two sides signed the Treaty of Paris
    -They both had indians on their side
  • Proclamation of 1763

    Proclamation of 1763
    -This was a document made by the government to keep colonists from going west
    -The colonists were getting really mad with the government fon not letting them go west to claim land
    -The French and Indian war debt caused it
    -This document was made on January 11, 1763
    -The Proclamation lead to the Revelution

    -The Sugar Act was when parliment put a tax on sugar, molasses, coffie, and wine
    -It was made so the government could pay off the debt from the French and Indian war
    -Samuel Adams said it was illegal and that their government should determine it
    -Led to the American Revelution

    -The Stamp Act was when parliment put taxes on every paper
    -It was made to pay off the debt from the French and Indian war
    -It was the first time parlimet tryed to tax
    -The Stamp Act was repealed because of the colonist protesting
    -It ended on March 17, 1766

    Townshend Acts
    -The Townshend Acts were taxes on glass, lead, paints, paper, and tea
    -It was made to raise money to pay off the debt from the French and Indian war
    -The French and Indian war caused it
    -It led to the American Revelution
    -Protests from the colonist ended it
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    -The British police were watching then people started calling them names and attacking the police, then the police opened fire and killed 5 people
    -The police almost got arested for commiting a crime
    -The trial was held on December 3, 1770
    -2 of the 8 police were branded on the thumb
    -This realy turned the colonists against the British

    Tea Act
    -This was the tax on tea
    -It was caused by the French and Indian war
    -The colonists didn't like it but, didn't want to be put out of buisness by the British
    -This led to the Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
    -The colonists got mad at the British for the Tea Act so on December 16, 1773, a group of colonists threw 90,000 pounds of tea into the Boston Harbor
    -The colonists were happy, but then the British passed the Intollerable Acts
    -They threw over 342 chests of tea
    -It led to the American Revelution

    Intolerable Acts
    -This took many rights away from the colonists
    -It was caused by the BostonTea Party
    -The parliment passed the Coercive Acts or Intolerable Acts
    -The colonists boycotted against it and finally it was repealed in 1778
    -Led to the American Revelution
  • Battle of Lexington/Concord

    Battle of Lexington/Concord
    -This was the first battle of the American Revelution
    -The minutemen were way outnumbered and 8 died and 10 were wounded
    -The British advanced and were trying to get to Concord
    -The British retreated after many attacks from the minutemen, which were hiding behind trees and taking them out
    -The minutemen kept attacking and pushed them back
  • Battle of Bunker Hill

    Battle of Bunker Hill
    -The British gained control of bunker Hill
    -The colonial forces were holding Boston under siege
    -The British had a lot of casualties, around 1,000, and the colonists ony had 400
    -The colonists were happy they could withstand a frontal attack from the British, but the British ended up winning the battle

    -This was a book written by Thomas Paine
    -Many people coul not understand the writing of lawers, so he wrote it in the common language of the people
    -About 500,000 copies were sold
    -The colonissts got mad at some of it, but the lawers were really mad because if hey were lying the people would know
    -It led to the Declaration of Independence

    Declaration of Independence
    -55 men signed the Declaration of Independence
    -There are 1,400 words in this document
    -It was written to tell England that we were leaving and becoming independent
    -It showed that the king of England did many bad things and the United States wanted to be independent
    -The king let the go an be independent
  • Battle of Saratoga

    Battle of Saratoga
    -This battle was apart of the American Revelution
    -It was the biggest victory for the americans
    -Burgoyne, a British general, surrendered to general Horatio Gates
    -The British lost
  • Battle of Yoktown

    Battle of Yoktown
    -This was the last major battle of the American Revelution
    -The British surrendered again and the colonists won
    -It ended because the British surrendered
    -The americans were under George Washington and they defeated Lord Cornwallis's army
  • Treaty of Paris

    Treaty of Paris
    -This document recognized the independence o the United States
    -It was made to end the American Revelution
    -The Unted States got the freedom they wanted from Great Britian
    -The colonists were very happy
