  • Roanoke Island

    Roanoke Island
    A group of about 115 English settlers arrived on Roanoke Island. It was decided that John White, governor of the new colony, would sail back to England in order to gather a load of supplies. But when he had arrived a war had broken out between England and Spain. When he had returned to the colony the inhabits had all disappeared and left only one word carved into a post “Croatoan”.

    With the first successful colony of Jamestown many people who had different religious in England. They could now come over to America and start different colonies and regions where people have different religions.

    Roughly 100 colonists left England and their leader john smith. this was a very successful colony that was open to religious freedom and exploring. the new continent.Powhatan the nearby tribe had reached an agreement to trade and had traded many supplies and food with them. This had opened the Americas to more colonies and discovery to England.
  • Plymouth Colony

     Plymouth Colony
    The colonists were able to land and have a good first year besides the winter where almost half of the colonists had died. They had made peace treaties with the neighboring tribes and began to trade and build a relationship with them.

    This was a colony that was founded to be a buffer between the England colonies and the Spanish colonies. It was originally founded by James Oglethorpe to be a refuge for London’s indebted prisoners.
  • Pearl Harbor

    Pearl Harbor
    This was the tipping point for America and what had caused us to enter WW2. In the morning of this day over 100 Japanese fighter jets had attacked the Naval base destroying 20 naval vessels, eight battleships, and over 300 airplanes. More than 2,400 died in the attack, including civilians, and another 1,000 people were wounded.

    Several people that were part of President Richard Nixon’s reelection campaign were caught wiretapping phones and stealing documents. After Nixon had heard about this he had taken many steps to try and cover up what had happened, but he was unsuccessful and had resigned from office to avoid impeachment.

    This was a plan that included tax cuts and reduced federal spending. There was an income tax cut, but there was also the largest increase in taxes.
  • AIDS epidemic

    AIDS epidemic
    An outbreak of AIDS occurred during the 1980s. Many people have died and millions of people have been infected by this disease. HIV or AIDS attacks the immune system or CD4 cells which fight off infections and help your immune system. This is how people have died due to a weak immune system which makes them vulnerable to infectious diseases like pneumonia.
  • Columbia

    Columbia
    This was the first shuttle to reach space and re-land successfully reland on earth. This helped during the Space Race is one of the first ones to leave Earth. While its last mission had ended horribly because the shuttle had caught fire during reentry and burned up.
