    Proclamtion of 1763
    This promclamation did not allow colonists to settle west of the Appalachian Mountains. The British government feared the conflict between colonists and Native Americans would lead to another war. They also could not affored to pay British troops to defend the western lands. Colonists were enraged by this proclamation because they felt they had won the right to settle in the Ohio River Valley after winning the French and Indian War.

    Quartering Act
    In 1765, Parliament passed the Quartering Act. Colonists were forced to let British soldiers in their house and provide them with supplies. The Quartering Act also said that the colonists had to pay for the war debt.

    Townshend Acts
    Parliament needed to raise revenue, so they passed the Townshend Acts.The Townshend acts suspended New York's assembly until the New Yorkers would agree to house the troops. The Townshend Acts placed tax on goods and the British sent search warrants to homes or businessed to look for smuggled products.

    The Tea Act gave British control over the tea trade. Colonists now had to pay tax on the tea. Colonists were against the act and protested. Colonists disguised as Native Americans and destroyed hundreds of chests of tea.

    Colonists viewed theses acts very harsh. The Intolerable Acts closed the Boston port until the colonists pay for the tea that were destroyed during the Boston Tea Party. It also banned committees and let the British troops be housed by the colonists. It also allowed Britain officials accused of crimes to stan in trial in Britain.

    Battles of Lexington and Concord
    700 British troops went to Lexington to find 70 militiamen. The militiamen refused to surrender. A shot was head but neither side knew where it came from, so it became known as "the shot heard around the world." Few died after the shooting. The British then went to Concord to destroy supplies. The Battles of Lexington and Concord became the first battles of the Revolutionary War.

    Americans made a petition called the Olive Branch Petition, which asked to restore harmony between the British and the colonies. They send it to the king who rejects it. As a result, he blocked American ships from leaving their ports and sent soldiers to fight in America.

    This document was created by Thomas Jefferson. The document declared independence of the colonies and people have rights that government cannot take away. If the government did not follow the rights, the people can choose a new government.
