    Virginia and Kentucky Resolutions written
    After the time when the Alien and Sedition Acts were passed, that built the army up by heavily taxing the states, James Madison, Jefferson and other Republicans thought that this Act was unconstitutional. Because only a "party" felt this way. They left it up to the states to determine wheater or not is was Constitutional or not. With the Virginia and Kentucky Resolutions, which were adopted by their states respresentatives, they were given the right to void federal laws.

    Hartford Convention meets during war of 1812
    The war of 1812 consisted of heavy American casualties, but a victory along their side, once the British retreated from Baltimore. During the wintery month of December delegates were sent down to Connecticut to discuss the possibilities of leaving the nation. However, this did not turn out to be the topic of the meeting, instead deleates began to think of way to increase the New Engalnder's political power, by looking back at the Constitutional amendments.

    Missouri Compromise
    That balance between the North and South was equal and stable until Missouri came into the world and wanted to be a slave state. This would disrupt the balance of the eleven South states (which are also slave states) and eleven North states. In response Massachusetts took matters into its own hands and made a boarder in their own land, and created the state of Maine to keep the balance equal. This Compromise mainly states that slaves were closed off in the Louisiana Purchase.

    The Tariff of Abominations was a series of Acts that was passed that taxed the importation of goods, to ensure that the people of America could not only result on buying the inexpensive goods shipped to their country, but the states and country's good were to be purchased as well. This "protective" tariff was said to have benifited the North and degrade the South of the benifits the North got, meaning they were getting an unfair/ higher taxes then those of the North.

At this point as far at the South was concerned there was no tariff, because they had put their best foot foward.

Only a day before on March first a Convention was put into place and delegates were assigned to draft a Consitiution. The document was done in record time, and within one days notice the state of Texas became a free state.

Polk as well as the Americans desired more of Mexico, either side engaged, blood had been shed and war had been declared.

It was only soon after when the United States pulled through and conemdiered the Northern part of what was named California. This became another state added to the rapid and hungary developing United States.

The amendment that was not not passed by Congress that stated that slavery would be abolished in all areas conquered by the United States from Mexico.

He thought the worlds problems could be fixed with words and not bloodshed. His idea of this uptopia was called the Compromise of 1850, and with it came five new laws. One of which was the Fugitive slave law, that stated that all run away slaves must be returned to their owners.

One man in particular that was out of his mind was Harriet Beecher Stowe who let his mind pour out in the his book Uncle Tom's Cabin. This booked many points that pertained to many about slavery.

The tensions in Kansas began to tighten to an extent were violence got involved and the proslaverists who were also the South looted homes and newspapers in the center of the antislavery towns (one of which was Lawernce).

On this night Brown lead a group of New Englanders to Lawrence and they took five men out of their house and killed them in front of their family's. This was a very bloody and terrible event that was done out of pure anger.

The violence was brought about in the United States capitol when senator Charles Sumner who was a true and leading Republican attacked the Southerners. He did so in a harsh manner because the South still supported slavery and forced it among their states. Sumner in the attack was badly injured, and he was forever hated through the South, which is how he left his legacy.

The sued fro his freedom, and with the power and determination he had beind his heart he won his freedom. However, it did not last forever... Only two years later the court called him back and returned him back into the life of slavery.

President Buchman whom was a Democrat endorsed the Constitution. The Document was sent back to Kansas and there it was defeated and not brought up again.

However Lincoln pulled through with the victory and won the presidency, without winning a single electoral vote in the South.

Lincoln did not win the popular vote, but when the decision got put into the hands of the electoral college they chose Lincoln and he was swarn into office with alot of work ahead of him in 1861.

This giant steamship would crush any Union boat that came close. When Lincoln heard of the South vessel that was built he ordered one for the Union to be built. It turned out to look like a tin can on a raft, this was called the Monitor. In March the Monitor arrived in Virginia, and either ship did not do to much damage to the other but, the Merrimac ended on retreating.

Confederate general Jackson devised a plan of deception, where he pretended llike he was going to attack Washington (the Union capital). SO, with doing to McClellan was told to store troops in Washington. Although in this Seven Days Battle the Confederates lost more men McClellan still decided to retreat. Leaving the Union with yet another loss.

However, this war ended with nothing accomplished, and no land was gained or lost on either side.

According to this document Licoln had the authority to take slaves away because of the COnstitution and his staying true to it.

However in the night some Confederates mistook Jackson for an enemy and fired three bullets at him.

His speech was known as the Gettysburg Address. It was a two minute speech that most people during the time did not pay much attention to, now it one of the most beloved speeches known.

These two direct charges on the Confederates who were behind strong fortifications caused several thousand of Unio soldiers to die. This was not one of new cammander; Grant's most memorable battles.

The move to Georgia took place right after leaving Atlanta, where he ordered the troops to burn down the city, and he was ready to make more destruction.

    In March of 1865 Lincoln took his second oath in office right as the Civial war was drawing to a close. Lincoln new that the North was on the brink of victory and with knowing so he made yet another famous and beloved speech to the Union telling them the true meaning of war. Sense Lincoln had won the war he really started to win the minds and hearts of the people, and this lead to him being elected for his second term as president, only before he was assassinated.

Once they tried to sneak around the Union army at night they were spotted and ambushed, which caused them to surrender in the town of Appomattox.

    After four years of the Civial War, and over one million casualties Confederate general Robert. E. Lee surrendered in Northern Virginia. He planned to meet Union general Grant in the Mclean House where they could define the surrender. The meetign lasted an hour and a half. This was a huge victory and accomplishment for the North, after all their defeats they still resulted victorious.

The fall of the Confederate capital in 1865 on Evacuation Sunday spread like wild fire. The soldiers who were defending the town fled to the last open rail line available, and all of these soldiers who were retreating were ordered to set fire to any bridges. All of this destruction caused by the city's own men left large parts of Richmond in ruins.
