    The Great Awakening
    The Great Awakening was a movement of evangelical Christian church gatherings or sermons. This event changed people's religous, social, and political life in the colonies. It took place because in the 1700's church leaders thatught the colonists' committment to their religion was declinining and the dedication to religion in future generations was lost. This event ended up bringing the colonists together with political equality, and they began to question English athourity.

    French and Indian War
    This event was important because since the British won and gained control over the colonies; they ended up in debt. The dept led to many of the acts they held to gain money to pay for the war. It happened because they both wanted control over trade routes and the colonies. Also, the French wanted to to keep and protect their fur trade and the British wanted the fur trade. Since they wanted to protect the trade they built many forts along the the rivers near the Great lake

    During the War both sides built forts for the war. The war ended because George Washington on July 4, 1754 surrendered. It led to the Proclamation of 1763 and the sugar act.

    It was important because the colonists were mad at the British for not letting them settle where they want to. This happened because the leaders wer afraid that more fighting would happen on the frontier if they kept trying to settle on Indian land. Also, they were afraid of losing the colonists lives. In the event colonists were not allowed to go past the Appalachian Mountains. The colonists were mad that they couldn't travel past the mountains but the British thaught that this law was a good

    This event was happened because the British still had to pay the debt from the French and Indian War. During this event they taxed people on Molasses and sugar imported from the colonies. The colonists didn't like this so they protested and called for a boycott. To the British the act wasn't enforced as strongly to the colonists. This event was important because they had to tax people on sugar to pay debt. After this event was repealed they made the stamp act.

    This event started because the minister heard that there was complaints with the sugar act. He then asked people to come up with a better idea. When they failed to come up with one he decided to start the stamp act. During this event people had to pay for an official stamp whenever they bought paper products such as newspapers and books. The colonists responded by forming the group Sons of Liberty, they boycotted paper products, and used violence to try to scare tax collecters. The British

    The government had to create this act because they need to pay for the taxes from the French and Indian War and they need to pay for colonial governors' salaries. During this act the people were taxed on glass, lead, paints, paper, and tea.The Brititsh were very upset and so they used boycotts, colonial legislature made a letter protesting this act, and the Sons of Liberty attacked the homes of tax collectors.     The Tea Act started because parliment repealed the townshend act. During this event there was tax on just tea because they decided that they needed to tax people on something so they kept tax on tea from the townsend act. The colonist boycotted and used propganda. This event led to the Boston Tea Party. The tea act was important because parliment showed they owned the colonies.

    This event happened due to the tea act. During this event the colonists dressed up as Indians and dumped 90,000 pounds of tea into the Boston Harbor. This event led to the Intolerable Act. this event was important because the colonists finally rebelled in a big way against one of the acts that was put on them.

    The Intolerable was used as punishment for what the colonists did in the Boston Tea Party. During this event the government closed off the Boston Harbor until the people paid off the cost of the tea. The colonists used large scale boycotts and propoganda. They also convened the first continental congress. The act wasn't reapealed until 1778. This event was important because it was a way to get back at the colonists for what they did.

    The battle of Lexington/Concord happened because Revere and William Daws heard that the British were crossing the Charles River to march towards Concord. The minutemen and colonists went to concord, and thats where they held the war which only lasted minutes. The british suffered 250 cassulties and they colonists had less than 100 people hurt. The war ended because the British retreated from it. This event was important because it only lasted minutes and it was a big part of the US' history.

    The Battle of Bunker Hill started because after the British fleed they went to Boston to start another war. The war took place on a hill known as Bunker Hill.The British needed this war because of their recent history of losing wars. Later the British ended up winning.This event was important because it showed that the colonists could withstand a frontal assult from the British army, even though they had very strong British firepower.
  • Common Sense

    Common Sense
    Thomas Paine wrote the pamphlet Common Sense so even the common people could understand that politicaly we need to seperate from the British. This document gave the colonists an argument for freedom under the British rule. After Common Sense became a popular writing colonists started to realize that they didn't want to be ruled by the British. Common Sense led to the Declaration of Independence. The pamphlet was important because it questioned British authority.

    This document was written because the colonists needed to seperate from Britain and they wanted to tell the world why. In the bulk there was about 1,400 words total. Of those words 400 showed the beliefs or principles and the other 1,000 words explained the 25 abuses of the king. The document led to many other things with the seperation between the colonists and the British. This document was important because it shows the nation's freedom and independence.

    The Battle of Saratoga started because the Americans wanted freedom from the British. At Saratoga the British and Americans held a war. This war consisted of two battles between them. The war soon ended because the American Army forced the British to retreat and later surrender. It was important because Spain was on the American's side.

    The Battle of Yorktown was held because the Americans still wanted freedom from British control. This war took place in Yorktown. This was the British army's last resort to win because the Americans have been winning most of the wars in the past. The Americans later won due to their strong army force. This event was important because it was one of the last wars of the Revolutionary War.

    The Americans made the treaty so they could finally get their freedom. This document was signed by Benjamin Franklin, John Adams, and John Jay. With the treaty the United States bcame an independant country. It also gave the Americans larger borders. The United States agreed to pay off all of Britains Debt. This event was important because it ended the Revolutionary War.
