    Proposition 13, an amendment to California's Constitution, was approved by California voters. This amendment placed specific limitaitions on taxes. It lowered property taxes and also demanded a two-thirds majority in both houses to increase any state taxes, including income taxes.     Operation Desert Storm
    The U.S. organized a U.N. coalition of forces to expel Iraq from Kuwait in the Persian Gulf War. This war was over in 100 hours. Kuwait was declared liberated, but the U.S. stopped before overthrowing Saddam Hussein because they felt like they had achieved their stated objective. Picture

    Oklahoma City Bombing
    Timothy McVeigh set off a truck bomb in front of the Alfred P. Murrah Building in Oklahoma City. This incident killed 168 people, injuring at least 800 more. This bombing was intended as revenge for federal actions at Ruby Ridge incident in 1992. McVeigh hoped to spark a revolt against the government. Picture

    This Act is more formally know as The Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act of 1996. It was signed into law by President Bill Clinton and required work in order to receive benefits.     Bill Clinton was impeached from office by the House of Representatives on charges of perjury and obstruction of justice. He was later acquitted by the Senate, and remained in office. It was only the second impeachment of a president in U.S. History. Picture

    PictureThis was a Supreme Court Case that decided the outcome of the presidential election of that year. It was decided in Bush's favor due to the ruling that ruled that the Florida Supreme Court's method for recounting ballots was a violation of the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment.
