Unit 9 Collaboration

  • Unit 9 Head's up

Head's up on Main page to start thinking about collaboration with another teacher or the librarian on an Unit to teach. Thought about how to make it work with crazy situation this semester.
  • Unit 9 e-mail

E-mailed professor on possiblity of collaborating wth one of the teachers I had met on twitter.
  • First Tweet

    First Tweet
Sent out first tweet to see if anyone was interested in collaborating with me. No answer.
  • Thinking about collaboration

Since I hadn't heard back from anyone I was trying to figure out if there was a way to do it with my coworkers are school. Only 2 people not out sick where too busy. I was told if I did all the work then they would try to teach it in their classes. That is not going to work.
  • Know what I think I would like to do

We are trying to increase our students reading. We have implemented a school wide reading program, holiday reading program and are working at expanding our collection. The students have been doing independent reading log, but now that they have those skills down I would like to have them start doing book reviews of the books we have especially the new ones so that they are more aware of what we offer and hopefully have an easier time of finding a good book to read.
  • School Break

Still haven't heard from anyone on twitter. Still haven't figured out how to makework at school.Took assignment with me, so I could have it in the back of my head and maybe come up with some inspirtation/solution.
  • No inspiration

    No inspiration
Came back from trip and still no inspiration. Sent out another tweet hoping someone would be interested. Usually get response right away, but nothing.
  • Last minute Idea

Was asked at the last minute if I was availabel all day on November 12th to go with 5 students to the radio station for a project. Thought maybe that would work as a collaboration idea, but needed more information.
  • Deadline for idea submission

Even though I still haven't heard back from anyone on twitter I am still hopeful that something may work out. Also, there is now the idea of the radio station collaboration.
  • Got a tweet about collaboration

    Got a tweet about collaboration
Got a tweet about collaboration on commenting on online blog. Thought this might work for my collaboration project.
  • Direct Message

    Direct Message
Got a direct message with a link to an online form to fill out.
  • Looks like there are a few teachers interested

Looks like there are a few teachers interested
Checked it out but not many people had filled it out at that time.
  • First link I was sent to have my students comment on

Blog Think it may work for future but not for class project.
  • Starting working on example on our blog.

  • Rubric& Standards

Rubric Worked on rubric and standards since we had no school. I like rubrics the best for evaluation tools.
  • No collaboration with Radio Station

Found our new teacher would be taking the students to the radio station but we were told they didn't want teachers to stay whole day, so even if I had gone it would not have worked.
  • Computer lab

Uh oh, with the new schedule the 10th grade meets during the same time as IT, so that is out. Talked to Director of Studies about getting in to lab for my 9th grade. Maybe next week, but he has stuff he needs to do because he already switched with a teacher.
  • Lesson plan

Thought about lesson plan for taking students into the computer lab and showing them the review on the school blog. Thought about discussing how I want their reviews to look like and then do a sample one from each student on Anthem since we read that book as a class.
  • Book Review standards

  • Commenting

When done with posts of book reviews, hopefully 9th can comment on 10th and 10th and comment on 9th. Also, will share blog link on twitter with teachers in the sign up sheet and hopefully they can comment on the posts. Would like to make it a collaboration that we can do for the rest of the year.
