    Columbus Lands in the Bahamas

    Columbus set sail from Palos, Spain, with three small ships, the Santa María, the Pinta, and the Niña. He sighted land, probably Watling Island in the Bahamas, and went ashore the same day, claiming it for Spain. He accidentally stumbled upon the Americas. He did not really “discover” the New World millions of people already lived there his journeys marked the beginning of centuries of conquest and colonization. Because of this it is important to understand why Columbus even has his own day.

Some of the causes that came out from the war was The lucrative fur trade attracted colonists to the area that the colonists encroached on the Pequot home lands; Inter-tribal warfare broke down alliances and weakened the Native Indians; lastly the Dutch and the English colonists and traders made alliances with different tribes to strengthen their forces and power in Connecticut.

Charles I believed he ruled with the Divine Right of Kings. This meant he thought he was King by the will of God and therefore his decisions could not be challenged or questioned.

    This rebellion was also known as an uprising of the indigenous people againist ths Spanish colonizer. The Pueblo Revolt killed 400 Spanish and drove the remaining 2,000 settlers out of the province. Twelve years later the Spanish returned and were able to reoccupy New Mexico.

    William Penn founds Pennsylvania

    Penn was issued a land grant by King Charles II largely because of a significant debt owed to his father, Admiral Penn. At the time, the grant was one of the largest in terms of area ever known. It was named Pennsylvania, which means Penn’s Woods.
