    Haymarket Riot
    Protesting police brutality against labor unions. 8 people died when someone threw a bomb at police. 8 labor activists were convicted without evidence.
  • Great Southwest Railroad Strike

    Great Southwest Railroad Strike
    Affected Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, Illinois, and Texas. Over 200,000 strikers. Went on strike at the union pacific for unfair wages and unsafe work conditions.
  • American Federation of Labor

  • Homestead Strike

    A bomb exploded at the LA times Headquarters killing 20 people. The LA Times were known for being anti-union. Eventually two men admitted to the bombing.
  • Norris-LaGuardia Act

    Norris-LaGuardia Act
    Also known as the Anti-Injunction Bill. This act outlawed the practice of hiring only workers who agreed not to join the union. Banned Yellow-Dog Contracts.

    Also known as the Wagner Act. Protects the rights of employees and employers to encourage collective bargaining and to curtail certain management practices. This is a very well known act.

    Also called the Wages and Hours Bill. This introduced the 40 hour work week. Made first ever minimum wage at 25 cents.
