Setting:The book takes place during World War II and is located in Switzerland and France, and sometimes in Germany.
Characters:Henry, Dan, Billy, Madame Gaulloise, Pierre.
What the character wants:He wants to return to his home.
Plot:Under a War-Torn Sky is a young adult war novel about a boy flying a B-24 in World War II. When his plane is shot down by enemies and he is trapped behind enemy lines, he is helped by kind French citizens to Go home. -
Rising action #1
Henry's plane "Out of the Blue" is shot down in battle by an enemy Messerschmitt and breaks his left leg while landing. -
Rising Action #2
After the teacher snuck him to a hospital so he could fix his leg Samuel Watson/"Uncle Sam" tells Henry that he can get home by sneaking out and into Spain to get back to his family. -
Rising Action #3
After Henry started his journey back home by hiding in disguises he met Madame Galloise in Montruex and stayed for a few days. -
Rising Action #4
After wondering through town Henry meets a small boy named Pierre and his family who decides to take care of him till another person can. -
Rising Action #5
Pierre makes sure that Henry feels at home. So he tries to take a walk with Harry. -
Rising Action #6
After Pierre's mother was taken away by the Milice ( A French Police) Henry had to leave Pierre at a church to go to a maquis group. But at the camp had found the suprise of finding Billy White (an old pilot he knew). -
Rising action #7
Henry left the maquis group to go to the Pyrennes with other soldiers where a guide led them, but later sold them to the Gestapo for money. -
Rising Action #8
HArry gets found by war veterans and gets taken to prison. -
Rising Action #9
Harry meets two friends that never tell them their name. Harry realizes that the two want to make a plan to escape the prison. -
Climax
Henry is being tortured along with the russian and the brit. They are all being tortured till Henry is put in a car and gets his chance to escape. -
Falling Action #11
Henry meets Claudette while he is sealing from her orchard, but then they become friends and get moved to another maquis group. Soon afterwards they sneak out to find out what's going on. -
Falling Action #12
Henry and Claudette meet some German gaurds so Henry made a distraction while she ran away. But soon after he ran into a German squadron and was in jail again but an old German let him go run to freedom. -
Falling action #13
Harry starts to get across enemy lines. -
Falling Action #14
Hary finds an enemy and has a huge brawl. Harry winds up winning and continues to follow the trail. -
Resolution
After Henry crossed enemy lines to meet the US Army they took him home to Virginia where they celebrated his return with a Thanksgiving dinner.
