The slaves were taken to America and tobacco, sugar and cotton were taken back to England. Between the years 1700 and 1800 ca. 250,000 slaves were taken to America. Most people thought it was ok to have slaves. President Abraham Lincoln managed to ensure the freedom of slaves. Slaves was one on the issues that led to a civil war between the Northern and Southern states (1861-1865).
