Jamestown founded
Jamestown was a place that was seemed to be prosperous for many. However when the settlers settled there within 3 years over 300 died. Jamestown gave the Europeans information like climate, geography, natives, and most importantly the Europeans learned the New World was dangerous. -
Pligrims land in Plymouth
Before the Pilgrims landed in Plymouth conflict broke out between the Puritans and the strangers. This was the first self governed colony where the colonists had freedom. -

The French Indian War took place in the America. The 2 teams were the British and the Colonists against the French and the Indians. The war happened during the 7 years war in Europe. This is important to the Europeans because it decided which country had the most control in America. -

The Albany Plan of Union stated that the colonies could work together. Showing them that they do not need the British. -

Quatering Act
The British sent soliders to enforce the laws and since they did not have any houses to keep the soliders in they made the colonists keep them. This is when the British started to really get involved with the colonies. -
Stamp Act
The Stamp Act was a tax that was supposed to help get England out of debt from the war. The Stamp tax was on every piece of paper colonists used. The tax was shortly ended of riots and colonists finding ways to get around it. This shows that the English have decided to make the colonies do more for them. -
Townshed Act
The British taxed British imports such as: candles, papers, paint, glass and tea. In return the British colonies South Carolina and Massachusetts created the first trading route in the Americas showing the colonists they did not need the British. -
Boston Massacare
The Boston Massace was a battle between the British soldiers and the colonists. The fight started as teasing between a British sentry and few young colonists. Then the solider hit one of the colonists and was immediantly surrounded. Then a solider was knocked down by a stick and shot while he was trying to get up. Then the soldiers who he called for help fired with him shooting eleven guns. This is important because it sparked the relovitionary war. -
Tea Act of 1773
The British granted the East India Company with the ability to control all of the purchases in the American Colonies. The price was lower for tea but the colonists did not want to pay any amount of money toward the British. This act leads the patriots into doing the Boston Tea Party -
Boston Tea Party
A group of patriots that went by the name of The Son's of Liberty organised an attack on 3 British boats. The group struck late in the evening. They were organised and took the 3 boats at the same time. Soon, the bay was full of tea barrels, tea was expensive back then so, this made the British mad. Leading into the Coercive Acts. -
Intolerable (Coercive) Acts
The British passed 4 acts the Quatering Act, Administration of Justice Act, Boston Port Act, and the Massachusetts Government Act. The Quatering Act stated the colonists had to house the Soldiers. The Adminstration of Justice Act stated the British had spots on the Jury when a British official was in court. The Massachusset Government Act stated the colonists could no longer hold meetings. The Boston Port Act closed the Boston Port, canceling trade. These acts all lowered the 2's relationship. -
First Continental Congress
Representatives from each colony came to talk about how they would overcome the challenges ahead. After, conversing on what they should do. They decided to boycott the British from coming in their harbor. This effectively stopped started ecomonic coercion -
Battle of Lexington
The Battle of Lexington was fought in Lexington. The battle was fought in Lexington over the American's weapons. There were 7 casualties in the battle. This battle sparked the beginning of the Revolutionary War. -
Battle of Concord
The Battle of Concord was fought on Concord's North Bridge. There were 5 casualties and the colonists won. This showed the colonists that they could beat the British and showed the British the colonists power -
Second Continental Congress
During the 2nd Continental Congress the delegates decided upon making the Continental Army and assigned George Washington as the leader of the army. Now the colonists could fight back againist the British. -

The American Revolution was fought between the British who were led by the King and his generals and the Colonists who were led by George Washington. In the beginning the British were winning, but after the colonists recieved proper training in Valley forge the colonists made the British surrender. This marked the end of the battles and showed how much the Patriots wanted freedom -
Olive Branch Petition
The colonists were not ready to fight and wanted peace so they wrote a letter to the King stating that together they are strong and the British and Colonists give help to eachother. However the Petition did not work and the King ignored it. This shows that the colonists still wanted to be part of England. -
Common Sense By Thomas Paine
Common Sense was a popular article released around the time the British King named the colonists as traitors. The article stated that it was common sense to fight back against the British. This article strengthened the need for independence in many. -
Declaration of Independence
The Declaration of Independence was an article that stated the British and the colonies were 2 different countries. This began the first real fights of what was soon to be the revolution. -

The Treaty of Paris was a treaty signed by the British and Colonists which stated the colonies were free with no debt and got to keep the land beyond the Line of Proclamation. This marked the true beginning of a new democractic country. -
Shay's Rebellion
After, the American Revolution, the colonies had an economic crisis for their money was worthless. Thus, they had no money to pay their colonists that fought in wars, and loans to other countries. So, they taxed their citizens. Shay was a farmer who found his farm ruined after he came back from war and never got his money for fighting. First, he and his group protested peacefully, but then, they raided the Springfield armory. This shows that the colonies were less independent than they thought. -
Congress ratifies the U.S. Consitution
After deciding the articles of confederation were no good a group of people made the consitution. Then there was a debate over if the consitution was good enough between the federalists and anti-federalists. -
Whiskey Rebellion
Infuriated by the whiskey tax a group of farmers became violent and raided the house of a tax collector killing a solidier in the process. Then they planned to attack the capital which is when the U.S. Army stopped them. This shows that the U.S. had a enough power to stop inner-rebellions. -
XYZ affair
The XYZ affair was after the Americans had set a treaty with the French. However, the Americans disobeyed the treaty by not helping them in a war and then making a treaty with the British. So, they thearnted to attack. John Adams, sent 3 diplomats to talk Talleyrand (the leader of foreign affairs.) However, the diplomats were stopped by Agents X,Y, and Z who requested 250,000 dollars to talk to Talleyrand. -
The War of 1812
This war started after long British impressment of the citizens of America. They used them to fight in wars. The citizens riled up on the disrespect showed by them they begged the government to go to war. Finally, they did ending in a treaty. This gained a patriotic pride in the U.S. and respect from others.
