    Ending World War I, the Versailles treaty deprived Germany of around 13.5% of its 1914 territory and all of its overseas possession. The Germany Army was limited to a maximum of 100,000 men, and a ban placed upon the use of heavy artillery, gas, tanks, and aircraft.

    Chancellor Gustav Stresemann and President Ebert agreed that the only way forward was for Germany to pay reparations as demanded by the Treaty of Versailles.On November 8th and 9th 1923, Hitler used the anger felt against the Berlin government in Bavaria to attempt an overthrow of the regional government in Munich in prelude to the take-over of the national government.

    The Nazi party held their 3rd party rally in Nuremberd. 100,000 Nazis attended. The Nazi party was beginning to take complete control over Germany and their government.

    Billions of dollars lost, wiping out thousands of investors. This event damgaged economies across the world, including Germany. By 1933, neatly half of Americas banks failed, and unemployment was approaching, 15 million pwople or 30% of of the workforce.

    Hitler takes complete control in Germany when he gets parliament to vote itself out of existence. Within weeks Nazi's destroyed the democratic system of the government. Everything in Germany is controlled by the Nazi Party.

    Adolf Hitler loses German presidential election. Nazi's become a controlling party in the German Parliament. Began to stripe Germans of their right, to have complete control over Germany.
  • Reichstag Fire

    Reichstag Fire
    The Reichstag or German Parliament builing burned to the ground. Though the origins of the fire were still unclear, Hitler, his Nazi's, and the German Nationalist People's Party blamed communist for the incident; but used this as an excuse to declare a national emergency. The Reichstag Fire Decree regulations suspended the right to assembly, freedom of speech, freedom of the press, and other constitutional protections, including all restraints on police investigators.

    Parliament votes to consolidate all power in Adolf Hitler, making him a dictator. Hitler was granted even more power over Germany. Germans celebrated across the country. He promised the disenchanted a better life and a new and glorious Germany. The Nazis appealed especially to the unemployed, young people, and members of the lower middle class.

    At 4:45 a.m, 1.5 million German troops invaded Poland all along its 1,750-mile border with German-controlled territory. Hitler claimed the massive invasion was a defensive action, but Britain and France were not convinced. On September 3rd they declared war on Germany, beginning World War II. The years following would be the deadliest in the history of the world.

    On September 27, 1940 Japan signed the Tripartite Pact. An Alliance with Germany and ItalyThis created the Axis powers that would fight the war. The decision was made by the cabinet to take advantage of the German victories in Europe with an expansion south into the territories held by the western powers.

    Japan occupied French Indochina in order to prevent the Republic of China from importing arms and fuel through French Indochina along the Sino-Vietnamese Railway. The fight which lasted several days before the French authorities reached an agreement with the Japanese. Resulting in Japenese occupation of Northern French Indochina.

    Japan attacks U.S. Pacific Fleet at Pear Harbor
    The U.S. increased military and financial aid to China, embarked on a program of strengthening its military power in the Pacific, and cut off the shipment of oil and other raw materials to Japan.
    Result -> At 6:00 a.m. on 7 December, six Japanese carriers launched a first wave of 181 planes composed of torpedo bombers, dive bombers, horizontal bombers and fighters. Even as they winged south, some elements of U.S. forces on Oahu realized there was something different about this Sunday morning.
