    Russia was afraid of war with Britain; because of Britain's desire to seize Alaska. So to avoid the objection to their profit they decided to sell it. Alaska went to the U.S. for the equivalent of 116 Million modern U.S. Dollars. Although they got a decent deal for Alaska, there were still mixed feelings about the purchase as a whole.

    Takeover In Hawaii
    An Overthrow of Hawaii, in which people of the Kingdom of Hawaii decided to revolt. Most of these rebels were U.S. Citizens. Their ultimate goal was to destroy the monarchy in Hawaii and annex it. This however dethroned Queen Lili'uokalani; The last Monarch of Hawaii

    Yellow Journalism
    It was news for the populace that had didnt have any researched or informed information. It was a pseudo-front, made for the purpose of catching people's eyes. A lot of the paper in yellow journalism was color printed and had exaggerated or sensationalized headlines. It also referred to a specific time in history when The New York World, and The New York Journal battled over circulation and profit, by using Yellow Journalism.

    The Spanish American War encompasses The Philippine Revolution and The Cuban War for Independence. Spain had control over Cuba, and with American Yellow Journalism painting Spain in such a negative light for its control over Cuba. It pushed President William McKinely and America into an unnecessary war with Spain.

    Teddy Roosevelt and The Rough Riders
    Teddy Roosevelt and The Rough Riders, or commonly called just "The Rough Riders". Were the 1st United States Volunteer Calvary, and the only one to see any action. Without volunteer millitia such as "The Rough Riders" it could have taken longer to win the war. America's millitary was left weak after the Civil War. Teddy Roosevelt also led the regiment hence the name, even though he was just a assistant secretary for the United States Navy.

    So many foreigners tried to monopolize China's land. The result of that was The Boxer Rebellion. It was an anti-foreigner anti-christian, however the rebellion had very little equipment, and even though many of them were skilled fighters; it was basically a massacre because of the superior technology of the Alliance made between the United Kingdom, France, Russia, The United States, Italy, Germany, and Austria-Hungary

    It was an organization that opposed Imperialism and especially American Imperialism. They believed that it violated a fundemental right supported by Humanitarian and Economic beliefs. The Anti-Imperialism League however was defeated due to benefits of territory gain.

    Puerto Rico, and The Phillippines during the Spanish American War; were taken with general ease. However Guam, was the only conflict in The Spanish American War, with difficulties. It was an event without bloodshed. The States sent one cruiser. The U.S.S Charleston to capture Guam, they noticed that they were protecting their port with heavy firearms. They sent a message, and captured the port on June 20th 1898.

    It was a policy in foreign affairs designed on paper to give China sovereignty and equal trade with all nations. They didn't realize however, that countries would try to colonize China, cutting out their own piece of it and trying to dominate that area of trade.

    It's an Ideology from Theodore Roosevelt by communicating calmly and peacefully and "carrying a big stick" which meant also threatening with millitary power. This ideology was used when 16 American Battleships circumnavigated the globe for a show of power and neutrality.

    The United States were already involved with Nicaragua, and Venezuela for a while, since the 1850's, whether it was trade, or transport. However in 1910, we had to Negotiate with Panama, to make a canal to save hundreds of thousands of miles sailing from the East to the West side of the United States. The negotiation was successful and the Panama Cannal was made, which saved a huge amount of profit for America.

    The Mexican Revolution was an uprising formed by Francisco I. Madero against Porfirio Díaz. The revolution lasted 10 years , but it didnt solve anything. The uprising eventually turned into a multi-sided civil war, which eventually relapsed into another violent war continuing from 1826-1829

    With the tension between countries finally bursting out in WWI. America was unsure about the war. Since the war was across the globe they didn't think it was any of their concern. Many Americans didnt want their children to die for someone elses problem.

    It was a statement that World War I was being fought for a moral cause and for peace in Europe. Europeans welcomed these 14 points except for Georges Clemenceau of France, David Lloyd George of the Great Britain, and Vittorio Emanuele Orlando of Italy.
