    Columbus discovers the new world
    Christopher Columbus arrives in the West Indies which is the modern day Caribean Island which includes Cuba and Hati. He discovers this land by accident because he was in search of a new route to India
  • Roanoke Colony

    The Roanoke was the first English colony in the Americas. It was founded by Sir Walter Raleigh. The odd thing was when John White the colony returned from the supply trip he found that the colony had been deserted and the settlers vanished without a trace, "CROATOAN" was carved on a tree right by the settlement.

    Jamestown (Virgina) is the first permanant settlement in the Americas founded by John Smith who was in search of gold.

    The Dutch found New Netherland which is located in the now New England area of the United States. The settlement like others before were establish for economic reasons, in this case fur.

    The Mayflower Compact was set up due to pilgrims arriving in the new world and wanting to establish a government since one was not avalible.The document was signed and written once the pilgrims arrived in the soon to be colonies. It was the first type of government there.

    Nathaniel Bacon felt like the government of Virgina was not doing enough to fend off the natives. He took matters into his own hands and created a miltia to kill natives. He was critized and was going to be brought to justice by the government of Virgina but he died of most likely a disease.

    Many religious people in Europe and British America believed that others were too busy focused on gold and exploring the new world and that they were turning there back on God. Jonathan Edwards and George Whitefield one of the most popular speakers during this time he spoke in the colonies.
  • French and Indian War

    French and Indian War
    The French and Indian War or The Seven Years War, started when the English and French both believed they had claim to the Ohio River Valley. The French settled in and made a fort, a young George Washington was dispatched to ask the French to leave they refused. Native Americans did choose sides for whatever was in their best interest.
