    When my sister was in 2nd grade, she had a friend named Mark who has autism. He would come over from time to time for play dates with my sister. I remember being unsure of him because he would hit and kick my sister, but nonetheless, she loved hanging out with him which I thought was great.

    I worked at an elementary school after school program in high school. The classroom was located right next to the SPED room. Before the end of the school day, I would hang out on the playground with some of the SPED students before I would clock in.

    My friend Kaley started working at Lattice Educational Services. She would come home every day and tell me stories about the students. This sparked an interest and I decided to interview for the After School Program. Also, It was a great excuse to quit my other job at Justice.

    After my interview, I was given a tour of the school. I was instantly greeted my a student who asked me my name and what I had for lunch that day. Realizing no one has ever asked me that question, I knew I was going to like this job.
