    Roberta Cowell is the first know British trans woman to undergo trans surgery, her complete transfer took about 3 years physically and emotionally.This was huge accomplishment, and she was one of a kind, she encouraged people to be bold like her.
  • Supreme Court Rulling

    Supreme Court Rulling
    This was the first time every the supreme court had ruled in favor of gay rights, U.S post office had refused to deliver to a widely pro gay publication, but this action was deemed discriminatory. This was huge in realizing that all people are people no matter what you like.

    On April 21st 1966, one of the first acts of gay activism was performed. This group had walked into a bar and demanded service to a bar that didn't serve "there kind", because it was seen as disorderly. All people deserved to be served and treated with the same kindness as everyone else.

    This event was started by the raiding of stonewall inn, a gay bar, by policemen. It sparked riots for 6 days. The police had roughly hauled employees and other civilians out of the bar. This was a huge event that sparked the LGBTQ movement.

    This year marked the year homosexuality was not considered an illness anymore. It was officially removed from the "Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders", awful it was even added to begin with. This was huge!

    In April, 2000 Vermont was the first state to give something called civil unions, a legal partnership. It granted a lot of the same rights that married couples had. This was so big that these people were being recognized as legit couples.

    Finally! On June 26, 2005 all states were required to allow same sex marriages. These people can finally be out and about together.

    The Don't ask don't tell law was an official federal policy (discriminatory) that in the event that someone was known to be gay, lesbian, etc they could be discharged solely on that reason, mainly because it was considered a illness. Obama along with the help of others had reversed this in 2011. This is a career discriminatory while violating someones happiness.

    Obama had addressed the LGBTQ community in the states of the union for the first time ever! LGBTQ community are part of the world to they deserve to be addressed.

    This year during Obama s presidency marked the end of conversion therapy. People worldwide were being looked at like human beings again thats why this is so important.
