    After Scout yells at Walter for pouring a lot of syrup on his food, Calpurnia pulls her to the side to tell her she shouldn't treat guests like that.

    Scout goes back to school and Miss Caroline freaks out because a bug crawls out of Burris Ewell's hair. She asks for him to leave to wash himself, but he protests and manages to make her cry with insulting her

    Scout's school day is over, and she's very dissatisfied. After dinner, Atticus invites Scout to read with him. Scout then tries to convince Atticus that she doesn't need school.

    Atticus tries telling her to make an effort to consider other people's point of view. For example, Miss Caroline was only trying her best in what to her is a strange new place.
  • A compromise

    Atticus proposes that they can continue reading together as long as Scout continues going to school, and she's not allowed to tell Miss Caroline about it.
