  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    The Stamp Act taxed newspapers, licences, and colonial paper products. It was repealed due to the growing rebellious actions.

  • Townshend Acts

    Townshend Acts
    This act was repealed on March 5, 1770, right after the Boston Massacre, because of the opposition of the colonies, but the tax on tea remained.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    This was the relationship between colonists and Parliament. The protesters had an argument with guarding British soldiers. The result was the soldier hitting him. At the end, the soldier ended up killing 5 men.
  • Tea Act

    Tea Act
    On 1773, the Tea Act was passed, which allowed the British East India Company to sell tea directly to the colonists. The British East India Company could sell tea for lower prices and still make a profit of it. The purpose of the Tea Act was to encourage colonists to stop smuggling, by offering a cheaper British tea.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
    On December 16,1773, the colonists dumped bunch of tea chests in the British ship into Boston Harbor. This event was called the Boston Tea Party. This event expressed the anger and irritation of the colonists.
  • Intolerable Acts

    Intolerable Acts
    After hearing about the Boston Tea Party, Lord North, the new British prime minister was furious. So, during the spring of 1774, the Parliament decided to pass the Intolerable Acts to punish Boston for their action and to bring back the order of the colony.

    1st Continental Congress
    The 1st Continental Congress was a meeting with the colonists, talking about the realtionship with Great Britan and its colonies in America. The colonists wanted to have peace, not war, so they asked the King for peace.
  • Concord/Lexington

    Concord/Lexington
    This battle took place in Massachusetts. Paul Revere warned that the British were comming to fight. The first battle, so many minutemen got injured but only one British soldier got injured. The British were on their way to concord, but Prescott had already warned Concord that the British were comming. So, Concord hid all of their ammunition. When the British arrived they were so frusturated.
  • 2nd Continental Congress

    2nd Continental Congress
    The King didn't accept for peace, so there was war. On July 5th, the delegates signed the Olive Branch Petition as a final attempt to restore harmony.
  • Battle of Bunker Hill

    Battle of Bunker Hill
    The Battle of Bunker Hill was an extremely hard time to fight for the army because it was during Winter, so it was impossible to fight, Also, many soldiers became sick, so George Washingtin's wife came and helped the sick soldiers.

    The Olive Branch Petition was a document that stated the colonists' loyalty to the king. This document was trying to make peace instead of war, but King George declined, so the colonists had to go to war.

  • Declaration of Independence

    Declaration of Independence
    The Second Continental Congress picked Jefferson to write the draft of the Declaration of Independence. On July 4th, the document was official.
