  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    Stamp Act was basically the first time the British collected taxes from the colonists. This act required colonists to pay extra taxes from sending official or personal documents by mail. British lost money due to the French and Indian War. If the colonists refuse to pay those taxes, they will be sent to jail. The colonists boycotted from buying British goods. This made British merchants suffer and complain. This act was repealed in 1767.

  • Stamp Act Congress

    Stamp Act Congress
    Stamp Act of 1765 caused many protests in colony. So the Stamp Act Congress was held in 1665 to discuss about colonial right. They had debate about 13 different proposals from Patriots who are on colonist side. At that time, their own belief was very strong that they were stating their opinion as if they are insulting one another. This congress made neutralist think about why they had to repeal the Stamp Act.
  • Townshend Acts

    Townshend Acts
    This act was passed by Parliaments. The Townshend Act asked the colonists to pay taxes from buying glass, paint, oil, lead, paper and tea. Colonists went against this act by boycotting. The women even called themselves "Daughter of Liberty" like Sons of Liberty and supported the boycott. This act also made Samuel Adams state that this violates colonists' right of daily life. The tax collector stopped the ship and this angered the ship owner. The result was Son of liberty attacking British house.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    This event was errupted during the time when the name calling and arguments were common between soldiers and colonists. This errupted when colonists got struck by the soldier. The surrounding people were throwing rocks at the soldiers and the rest of soldiers started shooting 5 people off. John Adams decided to protect the soldiers in court. Paul Revere was known for writing books called "The Bloody Massacre perpetrated in King Street". The soldiers were found innocent
  • The Tea Act

    The Tea Act
    The parliament destroyed all of townshend act except taxation of tea. They allowed British East India Tea Company to sell tea directly to colonists. This was very beneficial to colonists. The parliament proposed Tea Act to reduce tension between British and colonists. Colony's merchants were afraid that they might suffer in business if the West India Company sells tea in cheaper price.
  • The Boston Tea Party

    The Boston Tea Party
    This event occured in Boston harbor. The protesting group of colonists sneaked on to the tea ship and dumped the ship over and spilled about 340 chests of tea. Colonists were against the fact that British are still not giving up on collecting taxes from them. Although British gave a chance to get together, it still made protestors go against them. And people on the street all shouted "Boston harbor is a teapot tonight!". This made British get mad and proposed Intolerable Act.
  • Intolerable Acts

    Intolerable Acts
    Intolerable Acts are punative acts for dumping the tea ship. The first law is Boston Port Act closing the Boston Harbor. Second is Administration of Justice Act which stated that colonial charter was canceled. Third is Massechusetts Government Act which let British criminals go to British court and have fair judge. Next the Quartering Act forced colonists to provide housings and foods for British soldier(s). Lastly, Quebec Act gave most of colony-owned lands to Quebec.
  • Battle of Concord/Lexington

    Battle of Concord/Lexington
    This is the first revolutionary war between redcoats and minutemen. The British troops had arrived in Lexington and minutemen were waiting for the war. Suddenly, there was a shot that started the first revolutionary war. However, no one knew who shot it which made a quote "shot heard round the world". The captain, Paul Reverie was arrested and 8 were dead from minuteman and only 1 from britain. Samuel Prescott warned Concord to hide their weapon and redcoats went back.
  • Second Continental Congress

    Second Continental Congress
    This congress was discussing about how to react to the sudden fight of Lexington. Some of the deligates wanted war but some didn't. Their belifs were very strong that the congress suddenly became a fight in words. They decided to build Continental Army from minutemen and some other volunteers to fight against the British. The congress agreed to let George Washington be the leader of the army. They finally proposed Olive Branch Petition to the king, he just searched for way to punish colonist
  • Battle of Bunker Hill

    Battle of Bunker Hill
    Even congress chose peace, the army chose to send Benedict Arnold and his 400 men to attack the British fort and succeeded on capturing the fort and lots of weapons. Even though British tried to rebuild the plan, the army already overpowered the Breed's hill. British force suffered too much. British challenged again for third time but colonists were out of ammo so they retreated.

    Common Sense
    This writing was published by Thomas Paine and to the British Monarchs. This stated that king and queens are taking too much power over the colony. However Thomas Paine wanted to tell the kings that normal citisens have right to legislate for their own life. So the people of colony want equal right. As the writing had been spreading all around the colony, it changed people's view of kings. It has echoed around the American history.
  • Declaration of Independence

    Declaration of Independence
    Thomas Jefferson stated that King George III had violated the colonial right by taxing without representation. King George III had made many unfair laws that damages the equal right of colonist. Next, the colonist have right to break from Britain. Lastly Jefferson stated that King George III broke the social contact with the colony. The Declaration of Independence was passed and the United States Of America was finally born in 7/4/1776
